Survey Results to be Revealed on January 29
The German American Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with KPMG invites you to an exclusive conference – the presentation of the results from our 2019 German American Business Outlook (GABO).

GABO is one of the most important economic indicators of German American business relations. The German-American Chamber offices in the US and our Washington, DC liaison office (RGIT) collaborated with KPMG to survey more than 1,900 German subsidiaries in the United States on their views of the US as an investment location.

The results of the survey will be presented by Andreas Glunz, Managing Partner International Business KPMG followed by a panel discussion on the current business environment for German businesses in the US. Panel participants include senior executives of leading industries in the German-American business community.

Deutsche Bank Chief Economist Torston Slok will deliver keynote remarks. The even will conclude with a networking reception hosted by Deutsche Bank.

Weiss-Aug Co. Inc. Leads Way for Skills Training in NJ
Building on New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy’s visit to the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (DIHK) last October, the state is driving forward on building paths for young people to develop skills and career opportunities. New Jersey is home to hundreds of small manufacturers, who rely on their high quality and excellent service to compete in a complicated market for specialized chemicals, machined parts and precision molding. The continued success of this industry depends on the ability of the current generation of skilled machinists to pass on their expertise to a new class of committed workers.

Companies with a German culture, such as Weiss-Aug Co. Inc . , are leading the way in this effort and showing other SMEs what sustainable business means. Since Weiss-Aug began producing in New Jersey in 1972, it has maintained a commitment to its NJ community and held skills training as a cultural value. GACC Apprenticeship Manager Alexandra Hoffmann (pictured) visited the company this month at its East Hanover location to witness firsthand the passion and commitment current and graduated apprentices in action.

Based on the Memorandum of Understanding between the NJ Governor’s office and the DIHK, the GACC will be supporting the quick ramp-up of apprenticeship programs in the state with “Train the Trainer” mentor training programs, pre-apprenticeship and apprenticeship opportunities, and DOL registration and certification. All GACC programs will be based on the German standard and will utilize the training tools that make Germany the world leader in skills training. More information will be announced as courses and programs are schedule.
