Celebrate with Us! First ICATT Cohort Completes their Apprenticeship
Join us at IMTS on Sept 13 to network and celebrate our first ever graduating ICATT cohort! And to learn about German-style apprenticeships across the US, come to the GACC Skills Conference just prior. Details are below.

Official Start of New Apprentice Cohort 2018
Continuing the growth rate of the last years, we are very proud to have so many new apprentices starting this year.

The GACCs are working in AL, GA, IL, IN, MI, MO, NC, OH, SC, TN, VA and WI with hundreds of apprentices who are building their career in the manufacturing industry. In the ICATT Apprenticeship Program alone, 40 new apprentices started this month , more than doubling the size of the program.   We are excited to continue our supporting services to all companies and apprentices who are dedicated to an international, high standard of training.

Join the 2018 Advanced Manufacturing Symposium  in Denver, CO
In cooperation with the Colorado Chapter, the GACC Midwest Skills Team is proud to co-host the Advanced Manufacturing Symposium on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 in Denver.

The symposium includes panels featuring international experts from various companies in high-tech manufacturing. A first panel on " Talent: Workforce Development Solutions in Manufacturing" will be moderated by Mario Kratsch, Head of the ICATT Apprenticeship Program. Panelists including Hans Peter Riehle, President and CEO of WITTENSTEIN North America, will discuss how companies have successfully implemented apprenticeship programs to train the next generation of manufacturers.

Transatlantic Apprenticeship Dialogue: On The Job Training
Don’t miss out on this intercultural exchange and trainer educational event where you will learn from your German industry counterparts (both small and mid-sized companies) regarding best practices and methods for apprenticeship programs.

The workshop in Chicago on October 23-24, 2018 and the delegation trip to Germany on December 3-7, 2018 will focus on:

  • Sharing the many years of experience and know how of German trainers and vocational schools
  • Exchanging knowledge and experience between German and American professionals
  • Increasing the acceptance of dual vocational training in the US to counteract the skills gap
  • Creating an understanding for the benefits of establishing a sustainable talent pipeline
  • Discussing best practices of current methods, exams, training implementation and more.

This project is supported by the Transatlantic Program of the Federal Republic of Germany, funded by the European Recovery Program (ERP) of the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi).
"Train the Trainer" - Upcoming Seminars in Atlanta and Chicago
Calling all trainers: This fall we are offering “Train the Trainer” seminars. Seminars will take place on October 9-12 (Chicago region) and October 22-27 (Atlanta). Upon successful completion , trainers will be certified with the “AdA International - Trainer Qualification/USA”, which is the highest international certification accredited by the Association of German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (DIHK).

Our seminars are designed for trainers, mentors, as well as individuals that are interested in the topic but have no prior experience. The seminars will prepare you to effectively train others and will include topics such as teaching methods for breaking down complex tasks, learning styles, apprenticeship structure, and much more.

Manufacturing Day 2018 is Coming Up - Get Ready!
October 5th is Manufacturing Day, when companies and educational institutions all over the US open their doors and show what manufacturing is really about. Just like in the last couple of years, we will be active with our own events to showcase modern manufacturing to the next generation. ICATT Expands to St. Louis Met ropolitan Area
The ICATT Apprenticeship Program continues its record of growth in 2018. With its latest expansion launching in the fall of 2018, it is now able to provide its high-quality services to the St. Louis region.

The expansion opened for ICATT the opportunity to partner with Southwestern Illinois College (SWIC). SWIC boasts an extensive manufacturing program with state-of-the-art technical facilities. In addition, several high-precision manufacturers of the region have joined the program, including Antolin Nashville and Seyer Industries. 

Recap: Volkswagen Academy Graduation in Chattanooga, TS
On Thursday, August 9, 2018 elected officials and community members celebrated the graduates of the Volkswagen Academy at Volkswagen Chattanooga.

This year marked the 7th class from the Automation Mechatronics Program, the 4th class from the Car Mechatronics Program and the 3rd class from the Engineering Specialist Program. A total of 14 apprentices completed the programs this year.
