We are excited to introduce our new summer interns, Brooke Jablonski and Hanna Kolyvek! Brooke recently completed her bachelor's in linguistics and German at New York University - Hanna has one more year at NYU studying international relations and German. Present your research at GAIN24 Annual Conference and Talent Fair in San Francisco on August 24, 2024.

A group of international researchers from various fields will present their findings in a five-minute pitch in front of the GAIN24 audience. The objective is to impart current research results to a diverse audience in an understandable and entertaining way. 

WHO CAN PARTICIPATE:

We want you! We are looking for international researchers to present their findings in the brief and lively Science Slam format. Any postdoc, early career researcher, or GAIN24 attendee can apply. Only your own research can be presented. Applications from all disciplines are welcome!

YOUR AUDIENCE:

The GAIN annual conference is the largest German science and research career fair in the US with participants ranging from early career researchers to representatives from over 80 German universities, research institutions, and funding agencies. The GAIN24 audience will vote on the winner.

WHERE AND WHEN:

The GAIN24 Science Slam will take place on August 24, 2024,

Send us an email at kolyvek@daad.de and submit a one-minute video pitching your slam in English.

The GAIN24 committee will select the slammers. They will participate in a workshop on science communication with GAIN trustee and seasoned science slammer Aline Gottlieb in early-August to prepare for the science slam.

GAIN24 Programm

Die GAIN24-Konferenz besteht aus Podiumsdiskussionen, Workshops und Vorträgen über die internationale Wissenschaftslandschaft und Karrieremöglichkeiten in Deutschland. Auf der umfangreichen Talentmesse können Sie sich zudem über konkrete Förder- und Jobmöglichkeiten in Deutschland informieren und Kontakte zu Forschungsinstituten, Wissenschaftsorganisationen und Hochschulen knüpfen.

Eine Reihe von Workshops und Vorträgen gibt Tipps für die individuelle Karriereentwicklung. Im Mittelpunkt stehen Themen wie der Aufbau von Nachwuchsgruppen, die Bewerbung auf eine Professur, Karrieren in Wirtschaft und Wissenschaftsmanagement sowie Strategien für Doppelkarrierepaare und Familien. Verschiedene Networking-Empfänge runden das Programm ab.

We hope you’re having a good summer and are looking forward to the GAIN24 Conference and Talent Fair! With the Conference quickly approaching, we wanted to ask for your help in promoting the Saturday afternoon English program to international early career researchers in the San Francisco Bay area. We know that many of you have friends and alumni in the US or San Francisco Bay area, and therefore we kindly ask that if you know anyone who would be interested in attending the Saturday afternoon internationals conference, that you please forward them this post and links!

On Saturday, August 24th, our conference will be held entirely in English. There is no attendance cost, and once registered, attendees may schedule one-on-one meetings with any of the universities, research institutions, and funding agencies represented at the conference. Participants are welcome to attend any of our group workshops, as well as the GAIN Talent Fair and Science Slam!

Tübingen University Gender and Diversity Research for Pride Month
