GALAXY SC & PONYS FC WIN US YOUTH SOCCER NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS

Galaxy SC & Ponys FC became the 32nd & 33rd team from Illinois to win a US Youth Soccer National Championship, with both clubs winning at the 14U age group on Sunday in Orlando. This marked the 3rd straight year that multiple Illinois teams have won a National Championship.

After coming up just short in last year's Final, Ponys FC fought their way back to the National title match with hopes of a different outcome. After falling behind 2-0, Ponys rallied with scores from Drew Collins and Anthony Vega to send the match to overtime. In a wild game that featured multiple late, dramatic shifts, the Ponys came out on top in penalties against the The Football Academy 2010 Boys Black from New Jersey to get redemption for last year's loss and the club's first National title.

Galaxy SC was one of only two teams to win all of their group play games at the National Championships outscoring their opponents by 7 goals in those wins. In the National semifinal, they knocked the other team to accomplish that feat, KC Legends, out of the competition. With confidence and momentum on their side, they took home the National title with an impressive 3-0 win over Columbus United Lions of Ohio behind scores from Aubrey Guskey, Quinn Fahey and Samantha Latawiec. With the win, they became the 6th team from the club to win a National Championship.
