Make the Change Now
As of April 15, 2022 memberservices@gbcra.ca will be set up to accept auto-deposit while our old email address will not. Please make the necessary changes to your banking information to continue using our auto deposit capabilities on April 15. Past Events
The British Music Invasion
On April 4th, Daniel Aonso from Circles Enrichment presented a look at the British Music Invasion of the mid 1960's. We learned that this "Invasion" helped define the counter-culture movement on both sides of the Atlantic, that the music of the Beatles, the Stones, an other famous British groups was actually a re-mix of popular American music at the time. Surprisingly, much British music found its origins in the USA, was re-mixed in Britain by artists such as John Lennon and Paul McCartney and sold back to the American public as "British" music.
We invite you to take a look at the clip below and have a taste of the presentation.

Robyn Lang
1958-2022
ROBYN LANGE, avid sailor and dancer, wise counsellor, and when required, wrangler of dogs, cats and people, died on Monday March 28, 2022.
Determination coupled with her compassionate and caring nature were the hallmarks of what made Robyn, Robyn! She learned about service to community early on as she made rounds with her dad on home visits as part of his busy family medicine practice in rural Manitoba. She successfully navigated three experiences with cancer between fifteen and twenty-six. This experience caused Robyn to look reality straight in the eye. She decided to shift her focus of study from
medicine to corrections, becoming the first female director of a halfway house in Canada. From there she went on to a long and rich career in teaching and counselling at George Brown College. Robyn will be missed by her extended family and many close friends. A celebration of life will be held in Toronto this summer.

Fred Walker
1921-2002
Fred Walker was born and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia where his love for radio and sports took root. Fred started his career in radio at CHNS Halifax then moved on to CBC Halifax. This was the start of a long and rewarding career in sports broadcasting with CBC Radio that brought him to Montreal, and then Toronto. Over his long career, he covered a wide range of professional and amateur sports, including the Olympics, the Commonwealth Games, the Stanley Cup, Wimbledon, and the World Series.
After he retired from the CBC, one of his great pleasures came from teaching media applications, publicity, and promotions at George Brown College.
