Death of our Leyland Cypress Trees

As you are aware the Leyland Cypress trees are dying throughout the community. With this in mind, the GCA is removing and replanting those trees which belong to us in the Common Areas of the community. For us as owners we need to be diligent as we add plantings to our property and might wish to investigate other similar trees.

During a conversation with Snow’s Garden Center, their representative stated that people are still wanting to plant the trees knowing that they might well develop disease as they grow. The suggestion was to choose Red Cedar, Green Giant Arborvitae, or Cryptomeria (Japanese Cedar). If you are a new home owner, you might want to discuss the landscape decisions with your builder with this information in mind. We as a board cannot tell the home owner what to plant, but only make you aware of general information.

C&R Revisions

The Covenants and Restrictions (C&Rs) are the primary governing document for the Glenmore Community. Since the original development company of Glenmore (GALP) no longer exists and has previously ceded all common property to the Glenmore Community Association, the GCA Board is currently updating our C&Rs with the main focus on aligning the language with the GCA as the governing authority versus the developer, GALP. Future News & Notes will provide updates on the progress.

Talking about our C&Rs, there are many activities which the C&R’s require coordination and approval before we take action We would like to remind all of our neighbors to look at these Articles before they make plans for home additions, removal of current landscaping, or even tree removal. Please remember that the cutting down of trees, some landscaping projects and the replacement or building of fences require us to gain approval from the GCA’s Architectural Review Committee. Super Reminders

Cross walks are hatch marked on our roads, which means vehicles must STOP for pedestrians in the crosswalk. Vehicles must also STOP for golf carts in the cart crossings.

The GCA does not have a DOG park. Pets must be under control, on a leash, in all Glenmore areas, including the Athletic Field. Dogs can be under control and off leash on the nearly 10 miles of GCA unpaved multi-use trails.

All residents are reminded that trash cans need to be stored in your garage or in a screened area. They may not be left out outside of your garage or at the top of your driveway. Your cooperation is appreciated.

We have had reports that some of our neighbors are feeding the deer. Of course, with the new addition of home sites, many of the deer have left their old feeding grounds and have moved into more established areas. We must remember that they are not to be fed….seemingly they find more than enough without our help.
