Carroll Creek Bridge

As reported previously, the Carroll Creek Replacement Bridge Construction Bond has been placed with the County. Timbering of the K2C-II (Leake) development area is underway to support this project. The replacement bridge requires importing approximately 13,000 yards of fill dirt from the development area to construct the earthen dam to support the new crossing. The plans have been approved by the County and communicated to the GCA. We are awaiting a pre-construction meeting to be held between the County and the Developer. GCA representatives will also attend this meeting.
We anticipate construction of the replacement bridge to begin prior to the end of the year and completion is anticipated in late Spring 2017, weather dependent.  During construction the nearby multi-use trail and the road itself will be closed during certain periods. As specific dates become known, we will let you know via special announcement. Please direct any questions or concerns regarding this project to commns@gca-community.org.
Rivanna Village

Albemarle County Supervisor Rick Randolph has received official word from Andrew Boninti, developer of Rivanna Village, that the property has been sold to the Robinson Development Group
Rivanna Village Outline
The GCA reached out to the new Project Director, Tim Culpepper, who has responded that our plans for Rivanna Village practically mirror the development plan that Andrew presented – in fact, without exception we have retained the original design team that was in place ” and “ retained Andrew [Boninti] in a consulting role to smooth the transition and maintain continuity in the project”.

He further indicated “We expect to start construction surveying and some initial site work in the next 4 – 6 weeks .” The GCA Board, Village of Rivanna Community Advisory Council (VRCAD), our Board of Supervisors representative, Rick Randolph, and County staff continue to actively monitor this project
From the GCA Board:
Traffic Calming measures

A work group, led by Diana Ferguson, has met with Mr. Graham, Director of Community Development and submitted a proposal to the County for the installation of three sets of speed cushions on Darby Road East. The plan also includes installation of a 4-way stop at the intersection of Ferndown Lane and Darby Road East. Weather permitting, installation of the speed cushions and stop signs will begin once County approval is received.
Speeding Car
In addition, the Board approved the painting of road lines to narrow the roadway and create a bike/cart path on Piper Way between the gatehouse and the undivided section of Piper Way. Line of site concerns on Newbridge and Devon Pines have been addressed. Road markings (cross walks, stop bars etc.) will be refreshed/painted in the coming weeks.
Leadership Change
N ancy Gansneder stepped down as GCA President, but will remain on the Board as Vice President and serve as Director of Communications.   Diana Ferguson was elected President by the GCA BOD effective November 18, 2016.
