Greetings!

It's Spring, and there's a lot to communicate in this edition.  As always, welcome your feedback on this newsletter.

Mailbox Refurbishment
Some of our mailboxes and posts are in desperate need of a Springtime refurbishment!  Remember that these need to comply with the designs specified in our C&Rs.  This includes the numerals on the side, which can be obtained from Classic Signs in Charlottesville - just ask for the traditional Glenmore format.  Replacement posts can be obtained from Mike Phillips at 532-4443, and the mailboxes themselves are standard black large size boxed available at any hardware store.  Posts may not have any adornments such as plant stands, but may carry a standard design of bluebird box, provided it is painted to match the post color, Georgetown Green, available from Duron Paint or Sherwin Williams.

2013 Annual Over-Dues?
Dollar Sign There are still a few owners who have not paid their 2013 Association Dues, which were payable by March 1. Perhaps you didn't receive an invoice? If this includes you, then please immediately contact our book-keeper, Barbara Grzymala, at 293-9931.
Volunteers Needed!
Help Wanted The recently elected GCA Board of Directors has decided to update the 5-Year Strategic Plan for Glenmore which was last compiled in 2008.  An updated plan would provide the framework within which the GCA can develop with the growing community over the next few years.  We are looking for a few volunteers to participate as members of a Committee which will put the plan together.  No specific experience is required.  Please let us know if you're interested - email us at [email protected] or call Trevor Joscelyne at 971-1350.

On-Line Access to Gatehouse Information
Gatehouse Thank you to the hundreds of Glenmore residents who have taken the opportunity to correct and update on-line their family's information used by the gatehouse!  If you've not yet done so, you are strongly encouraged to check out your information on line via the gatehouse page of the GCA website.  If you don't have the initial password that was sent to you in the recent email, it can be sent to you as part of the log-in process.

This is also now the preferred way to tell the gatehouse about your visitors, since it avoids the need for the gatehouse staff to manually re-enter the information themselves, and takes effect almost immediately.  If you're going away for a while, perhaps on vacation, you can also enter your absence dates on-line, which will automatically show in the gatehouse system that you're out of town. And of course you can update your vehicles, family members, and permanent guests this way too.

Spring-Time Limb & Branch Pickup...
This year's spring limb and branch pickup will begin on Monday April 8th. It may take a week or more to complete, depending on the weather. Leave branches to be chipped at your roadside by 8:00 AM that Monday, but please do not put them out more than one week in advance.  Limbs can be up to 8" diameter.  Place the large ends of branches all facing in the same direction. Also check adjacent common areas, parks, and vacant lots for branches needing to be chipped.  If you want a load of chips left in your driveway for use as mulch please call Frank Keplinger on 977-0189.

Not to be chipped: Stumps, leaves, shrubbery, dirt, lumber, metal, or large-scale lot clearing.

...and Spring-Time Dumpsters

Dumpster Two dumpsters will again be available for residents' use for large item disposal from Saturday April 27 to Sunday May 5.  The dumpsters will be located near the RV Parking lot area by the soccer field, at the east end of Carroll Creek Road. Please flatten empty boxes, and do not leave items on the ground. No items may be left in the area after the dumpsters are removed. This service is for residents only, no contractors please.

Not to be dumped:  Tires, TV sets, paint cans with paint, propane gas tanks, waste oil or driveway sealer, or hazardous materials.

...and Spring-Time SPCA Pickup
As in the past few years, the Charlottesville/Albemarle SPCA Rummage Store will have a truck available at the same location as the dumpsters on Saturday, April 27th, from 8:30 - 4:30 pm to receive donations for their thrift store.  There will be two men to help you shift it from your vehicle to the truck.  Please consider donating unwanted household items rather than throwing them away.  Your donations will help the shelter maintain its mission as a "no-kill" facility. (Check out their website: caspca.org, or contact Jan Cubbage at 409-1258 if you have any questions).

Stone Robinson Fun Run
Scramble Logo Following the success of last year's event, the Stone-Robinson Elementary School PTO will be holding another Fun Run "Scramble" on Sunday April 28 within Glenmore. Over 150 runners from grades K through 5th grade are expected, as well as some adults. Glenmore residents are welcome to sign up by contacting Nicole Weiss in advance at 295-6584.  There will be both a 2K and 4K run.  The runs begin and end at the Country Club parking lot, and will follow Piper Way to the south and along Carroll Creek Road. These roads will be closed from about 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM. In the event of urgent access being required by residents, volunteers will direct the residents to or from their driveway. Please watch out for kids running around!

  Dogs on Soccer Field
Small DogAlthough dogs are allowed to exercise on the soccer field, children use this field also, so dog owners are reminded that they must pick up after their dogs!
Message from Rivanna Radio Control Club
Dear Neighbors at Glenmore;Model Plane

We like to keep our friends across the river informed about the several weekends each year when we have flying events at Milton Field, where we have flown and managed the airfield since the early '70s, when the University of Virginia Airfield there closed to general aviation.

We shall have our first informal "Fly-In" on Sunday, April 21st from 10 am til 3 pm. This is just a friendly gathering of the club and guests to fly, talk, show off our winter builds, and get our flying skills up after a long break. So, you can expect a little more activity over there.

You might want to come over to the field and introduce yourselves.  We will be happy to have spectators, and will even give you your first flying lesson, if you wish.
