GCA has been undergoing a facelift with new facilities and renovated spaces, so it's only fitting that we have updated our website with a fresh, new look! The same information is there, but in a new format. Take a look around and make sure you share the site with anyone interested in GCA. We are in the process of registering new students for next year, so tell everyone you know to send in an inquiry form and join us next year at GCA! If you have any questions or problems with the site, please contact Jeff Freeman at Thanks!

Four of our GCA students spent the afternoon at Advent Health - Gordon working with teams from other area high schools.  Each team learned how to operate the Davinci robotics used in surgeries.  They practiced suturing, picking up small items and other skills needed for surgery.

Our students were chosen by Melanie DiBiase, science teacher - (left to right) Vanessa Thurman, Kristin Burgess, Allison Ormes and Gift Nnakwu.

This is just one example of the great opportunities our students have here at GCA!
From the Principal

We have reached the point in the school year where we are acknowledging the "last one of the year." Such as the Chapel meeting today is the last one of the year where all of our students are here. Therefore, the events of the coming days are viewed from the perspective of a review of the year, celebrating the end of the school year, and the bittersweet aspects of saying goodbye. With that in mind, here are a few items coming our way.

Flower Vespers - Our annual end-of-the-year program that we call Flower Vespers will be this Friday evening. A shortened vespers worship time will be followed by a time to talk to each other about the highs and the lows of the school year. This is a great time to say thanks to someone who has been especially helpful, and it is a time to say, "I'm sorry." Vespers will meet at the regular time of 7:30 pm.

Outdoor Sabbath - As of right now it looks like Outdoor Sabbath worship service will need to be indoors. The weather forecast is predicting rain - a 100% probability. This means we will probably be meeting in the GCA Church. Our plan was to travel to Cohutta Springs Youth Camp for our worship service and Sabbath lunch. Watch for an announcement from Campus Ministries for a revised plan.

SA Slide Show - Sunday evening we will gather for our annual Student Association Slide Show. The name goes back to the years when the program used photo slides taken throughout the school year to remember the major events of academic year. New technology over the years has changed the program, but the basic purpose stays the same. Our students will gather in the Wally Fox Wellness Center Sunday evening at 7:15 p.m. for a chance to look back and remember.

Farewell Concert - Next Wednesday evening will be the last time that our entire school body is together for a worship event. We will get together following supper for ice cream. Later in the evening, our praise music and worship program will present a concert to reflect on God's goodness to us throughout the school year. We will also take a few minutes to say thanks and goodbye to the faculty and staff who are leaving us at the end of this school year. This will take place in the amphitheater, if the weather allows.

Final Exams - What better way to mark the end of the school year, than a chance to reflect on what we have learned and perhaps review what we have studied? Final exams allow us to do that. Class finals will be next week for seniors, and the week after for all other students. Remember, all students will need an exam permit to be able to take final exams in each class. Students can pick up exam permits in the business office. Financial accounts will need to be current in order to receive an exam permit.

Senior Class Trip - Our seniors will leave for their class trip next Thursday (at 4:00 am!) for their trip to Florida. Payment for the class trip ($300) should be made to the business office. This will be a great trip for our senior class and a wonderful way to spend time together at the end of their high school experience. The class returns to campus on May 22 in the evening.

Thanks to everyone for being part of Georgia-Cumberland Academy and making this a great school year. Let us continue to focus on completing the year in a responsible manner. The sense of accomplishment will be all the more valuable if we finish strong.
