Planned Pre-Construction Work in Cambridge

Our contractor crews continued with field tests or "test pits" along the proposed GCEP routes to further engineering efforts. Here is a summary of progress in Cambridge from activities performed this month and upcoming:

Field Tests:

• Intersection of Portland Street Broadway (Complete)
• Intersection of Cardinal Medeiros Avenue and Hampshire Street (Upcoming)

Geo-technical Borings:

• Broadway between Galielo Way and Third Street (Complete)
• Third Street between Broadway and Linsky Way (Complete)
• Second Street between Linsky Way and Athenaeum Street (Ongoing)
• Ames Street between Broadway and Amherst Street (Ongoing)
• Vassar Street between Main Street and Waverly Street (Upcoming)

General Work Hours / Traffic Setup

• General daytime hours are Monday to Saturday 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. This may vary based on traffic volumes by location, as portions of this work may be conducted outside of these hours based on approval from the City of Cambridge. Work is typically done utilizing lane restrictions, however in areas of Ames Street it may be necessary to detour traffic. Clear signage will be posted to direct motorists.
