PTSA MEETING on WEDNESDAY NIGHT

October 18th at 7 PM in the Library

Grading for Equity

Rachel Baxter will join us at this Wednesday's PTSA meeting to discuss Grading for Equity, a book by Joe Feldman that is guiding Marshall’s professional learning for teachers and instructional staff this school year. Feldman’s work focuses on the three pillars of equitable grading: Grades that are accurate, bias-resistant, and motivational. Rachel will share information about what equitable grading practices look like, how this could impact students at Marshall, and answer questions you may have.

EMPOWERING STUDENTS:

Reflections Art Contest

Each year, the national PTA hosts a student art contest. The winners advance from the local to the national level, with scholarship awards up to $800!

This year's theme is "I am Hopeful Because...."

Students submit their individual completed works of art in one or more of the available arts categories: Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography, and Visual Arts. There is a Marshall student winner for each of these 6 categories

Winners then advance to Districts later in November, & can move on to State & then National competitions. Last year 1 Marshall student won 2nd place in Districts; another won 1st place so they went on to the Virginia state competition!

Submissions are due by November 3rd.
