CAREER SERVICES NEWSLETTER
Volume 2
Dear GCNYC Community,

As we continue to adjust to the COVID-19 impact in our lives, I hope you have found some hope in recent weeks as US policy shifts around climate change, inclusion, and representation. I have heard many of you speak of the "collective trauma" you are processing on top of the current challenges made apparent by COVID-19. Please remember that in addition to pushing yourself for productivity and evolution you should allocate space to self-care and quiet.

Your career is likely a signifiant component of what you are juggling right now. Whether your current company has been restructuring, your role has changed, you are seeking employment, or you are desiring a career transformation, you are likely evaluating deeply your relationship to work. I wanted to share a podcast from NPR on the subject entitled "Finding Meaning At Work: How We Shape And Think About Our Jobs" from Hidden Brain. I hope you find it interesting and thought provoking. Be sure to check out the list of additional resources at the bottom of the page which you may find valuable.

Have a great week ahead and know all of us at GCNYC remain a resource to you.

Please scroll down for job opportunities, career webinar schedule, upcoming industry conferences, and other resources to assist you on your career journey.

Warmly,

Michelle Gabriel

FASHINNOVATION CONFERENCE:
Fashion is Now
Look The world of fashion is and always has been at the forefront of change – be it through cultural adaptation or even economically. In 2020, COVID-19 drastically changed the human trajectory on earth, and fashion is an industry which suffered. However, what is important is that we now look ahead and re-create. The feeling of “living in the now” became a crucial way of thinking. The fear of death and the doubts of tomorrow can no longer be more significant than what our hands have the power to do now. This is why the new concept of fashinnovation is, now.
