Volume 3 - Week of February 15, 2021

Dear GCNYC Community,

Wishing you cozy warmth on these snowy days.

Thank you for all who made our first Career Conversations event with Kiki Van Son a great success. I hope you found the details of her experience a useful framework for thinking about the small steps that comprise your own career journey. Rome wasn't built in a day and neither is a successful and fulfilling career; setting your largest goal is an important first step, but everything after that can be best boiled down to 'putting one foot in front of the other.' Before you know it, you're further along the path than you expected and closer to that bigger goal. But remember, it isn't exclusively about getting from point 'A' to point 'B'. The experiences along the journey are just as important as the goal itself. When you remain present for those experience you learn valuable things that may affect the ideas of what success and fulfillment mean for you, not to mention you may pick up new ideas of what kind of jobs are possible.

Our next Career Conversation is set for March 11. I can't wait to share who we have in store as our guest speaker! I look forward to seeing you all there.

Have a great week ahead.

Warmly,

Michelle Gabriel

Guest speaker to be announced.

In our Career Conversations series, we engage with impact + sustainability professionals, with particular focus on our GCNYC alumni network, in order to illustrate through example what working in impact + sustainability looks like, break down the intentional and accidental steps that lead to their current position, and have an open dialog for your questions.
