Partners in Prevention
Attention Partners in Prevention
in Montrose, Clio/Vienna, Mt. Morris, Flushing and Clayton Township!
We are seeking volunteers to help plan and coordinate a Town Hall event focused on the issue of underage drinking in our communities.

As community stakeholders, we all have a role to play in addressing the serious risks and consequences associated with alcohol consumption by young people. This is an opportunity for us to come together and work towards finding solutions to reduce underage drinking in our local communities.

If you are interested in getting involved and using your expertise and resources to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the youth in our community, please contact Anthony Nicholas at [email protected], call (810) 285-9047, or use the sign-up link below. Together, we can make a positive impact on the health and well-being of the youth in our communities.

GCPC is Offering a Second Chance for Genesee County Youth
The Genesee County Prevention Coalition (GCPC) has contracted with 3rd Millennium Classrooms to offer youth prevention and intervention courses using evidence-based practices, which are essential to ensuring effective, long-lasting changes. One of the many strategies used is to identify Protective Behaviors.

Protective behaviors are strategies to avoid high-risk situations and help individuals increase their confidence to make a lasting change. Before identifying protective behaviors, individuals must be aware of risk perception, which is a measurement of how much of a risk they think a certain behavior has. Protective behaviors are personalized and are aligned with what a student feels comfortable doing. And if one strategy doesn’t work, there are many others that people can try, in order to find what works best for them.
The GCPC is offering Genesee County Schools the opportunity to offer students and parents FREE 3rd Millennium Classrooms prevention and intervention courses for a second chance after conduct violations.
For more information about how to refer families to courses sponsored by the Genesee County Prevention Coalition contact Andrea Keller, GCPC Office Manager, at 810-285-9047 or email [email protected].

Harris Family Health
Grand Opening
January 10, 4 to 6 p.m.
432 N. Saginaw St., Flint
Public Welcome!
FLINT, Mich. (WJRT) - A new health clinic is set to officially open in downtown Flint at the top of the year -- and it's the first of its kind.

The Harris Family Health direct primary care clinic will operate on an alternative model. Rather than billing insurance, the new clinic will have a monthly membership fee to access care.
Dr. Aisha Harris hopes to bring equal, diverse and affordable options for patients.

"My big why, is I really want to be a better resource for the Flint and Genesee County community," she said. "Finding an alternative and innovative way like direct primary care really spoke to me because it was my opportunity to really provide care but do it in a simplified way that I, myself, wasn't going to get burnt out and my patients were feeling like they were getting all of the care that they needed and as far as the diversity of medicine and being a black female doctor, there's not enough of us."

Enrollment is now open at www.harrisfamilyhealth.com.

The grand opening for Harris Family Health is scheduled for Jan. 10 from 4 to 6 p.m. at 432 N. Saginaw St. in downtown Flint. The public is welcome to attend and learn more about the clinic's operating model.

"Doing this on my own and knowing that the decisions that I make are affecting me directly and impacting my patients directly is just so beautiful," Harris said. "The goal is to provide people with care that they deserve, care that they need, and help the community be a stronger version of itself. The idea that I'm opening next week, I'm like it worked, I trusted myself to take this big leap and it's working."
