BETTER TOGETHER WITH GCS FAMILY ACADEMY

Explore What's Possible
October is a great time to explore what’s possible. With the school year well underway, students are settling into routines, discovering new interests, building new skills, and learning more about what excites and motivates them.
For families, those everyday discoveries can lead to meaningful conversations about what comes next. Ask your student what they enjoy, what they want to learn more about, or what they would try if given the opportunity. Then, explore alongside them. A new program, activity, resource, or experience could introduce a passion, strengthen a skill, or open the door to a pathway they may not have considered before.
Our community partners are an important part of making those possibilities accessible to families. The connections between home, school, and community help students see that learning and opportunity extend far beyond the classroom.
Through GCS Family Academy, we will continue connecting families with information, resources, learning opportunities, and experiences that help them support their students at every stage. As we support The Guilford Guarantee, we want families to feel informed and prepared to help students explore the many possibilities available to them now and beyond graduation.
This October, keep asking questions, making connections, and trying something new. Explore what’s possible and see where it can lead.
One Promise. Infinite Possibilities.

Family Academy FAMily Tip:
Try the "What If?" Conversation:
Try the following with your student:
- If you could try anything for a day, what would you choose?
- Find one way to experience it together.
- Watch a demonstration, visit a new place, try and activity, attend a community event, or talk with someone who does it.
You never know what one new experience might spark!

National Bullying Prevention Month & Supporting Every Learner Month
October is National Bullying Prevention Month and Supporting Every Learner Month, providing an opportunity for families, educators, and students to promote safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environments. Families can help prevent bullying by encouraging kindness, talking openly with children about their experiences, and teaching them how to speak up when they see someone being treated unfairly. Supporting Every Learner Month also reminds us that every student learns differently and may need different tools and support to succeed. Together, families and schools can help every student feel valued, included, and supported.
