The GDHCC together with 6 other nonprofit organizations hosted a Community Reception for Elected Officials on January 4th at Mercado 369 in Oak Cliff. Approximately 225 were in attendance from various sectors of the community.
Elected officials at the federal, state, county, and city level were in attendance, including school board and community college trustees. The reception provided an opportunity for one-on-one access and networking for those in attendance with the 20+ elected officials who also attended.
The State Legislature convened on January 8th, so the date of the reception provided prime convenience for direct advocacy with these elected officials prior to the opening of the legislative session.
This year will be an important year of advocacy in many policy areas. The Community Reception for Elected Officials laid the groundwork for positive 2019 advocacy for the GDHCC and its partner organizations.
