From September 23-27 we will be celebrating National GEAR UP Week! As part of National GEAR UP Week, our region will be introducing some new and exciting things. First, on each day of National GEAR UP Week we will share #myGEARUPstory videos of those who too often go unrecognized in a students journey to success - their parents. Our goal has always been to build a strong college going culture at schools and in the community, but the most important place to build this culture is within the minds and homes of our students, however ‘home’ or ‘family’ is defined to them (parents, guardians, friends, etc.).
Second, at our September 26 GEAR UP Family Night, we will be introducing our new GEAR UP Family Action Plans, which are a great way for students and families to work
together
towards their future.
Third, we will be introducing the new 2019-20 GEAR UP Student & Parent Punch Cards, so that those who come regularly to GEAR UP events and activities will be rewarded for doing so.
With all that said, you definitely don’t want to miss out on our September 26 GEAR UP Family Night, which will feature a College Fair, free dinner, free tickets to the Sep. 28 WSU Football Game and GEAR UP Tailgate Party, workshops, and all the other exciting things mentioned above. Sign up today!
September is all about coming together as peers, families, and communities to reach higher in life and take action! As the author Jack Canfield once said, “Everything you want is out there waiting for you to ask. Everything you want also wants you. But you have to take action to get it.” May this school year be one of action. Let us all dream big, and make it happen!
