Dear GEAR UP Parents and Students,
From September 21-25 we will be celebrating National GEAR UP Week! As part of National GEAR UP Week, our region will be introducing some new and exciting things.
First, on the first day of National GEAR UP Week we will release several new videos highlighting both ways to pay for college and ways to get paid by college. Our goal has always been to build a strong college going culture at schools, in the community, and inside student homes and minds. Being able to pay for college and make college pay off for you are vital to making higher education a possibility and priority. Students can complete short quizzes after each video to enter for a chance to win a giveaway. At the end of the week (Sept.25) we will host the Fall Family Night event virtually via zoom. There we will discuss what to expect from the coming year, enjoy captivating entertainment, and give away all sorts of cool items, including the items students had entered to win by completing their video quizzes earlier in the week.
Second, we will be sending our new GEAR UP Family Action Plans, which are a great way for students and families to work together towards their future. Look for those in the mail with your welcome back packet coming soon. They will also be made available on our website at a future date.
Third, we will continue our GEAR UP loyalty program this year. Since all our events are virtual until further notice, we will keep a record of students and parents who attend virtual events and reward you for your regular involvement. Be on the lookout for upcoming GEAR UP events by following us on social media and reading our newsletters.
