Study Abroad Scholarship Applications Due Feb 3

The Office of International Studies in Education has announced multiple scholarships to help College of Education undergraduates cover expenses to study abroad in Summer 2023, Fall 2023, or Spring 2024:


  • Two Dean's Scholarships for Undergraduate Study Abroad ($1,000/each)
  • Two Preparing Teachers for Global Classrooms through Study Abroad ($1,000 each)
  • One Ian J. Render Memorial Scholarship for Study Abroad to South Africa

Why did you join GECP?

I joined GECP because it was a great opportunity as an incoming freshman to meet people and make friends that would also be in education. I am also interested in traveling abroad.


If you weren't planning to be a teacher, what job would you choose for yourself?

Sports journalist


Do you have any secret talents?

I'm not sure if this counts, but I'm right-handed but left-footed.


If you could read one book over and over again, what would it be?

The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas


Tell us a powerful experience you've had at MSU:

I would say learning about Settler Colonialism through a campus walk of MSU in my TE101 class was a powerful experience. I didn't know settler colonialism was so present in our daily lives and how MSU was a perfect example as it is a Land-Grant University.


What is your favorite quote?

APIDA/A Solidarity, Coalition & Justice Workshops: “APIDA/As in Education 101”. Wednesday, Feb. 1st, 2-4pm. The College of Education’s Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion announces the APIDA/A Solidarity, Coalition and Justice Initiative with a few workshops. In this workshop, “APIDA/As in Education 101”, you will learn: APIDA/A contemporary issues in education; Current terminology; The politics of maps; Why there are so many acronyms to talk about Asians and Asian Americans.
