BIL Supplemental Funding SRF call for projects is open

The 2022 Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) and Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) Supplemental Funding call for projects period is now open. Online pre-applications will be accepted until Monday, October 31, 2022. Read more

Communities receive financing for environmental infrastructure projects

The GEFA board of directors awarded $139.7 million to eight Georgia communities and The Nature Conservancy for water, wastewater, sewer, and land conservation projects during its August meeting. Read more

The 2023 State Revolving Fund call for projects 

The call for projects period for the 2023 CWSRF and DWSRF Annual Base Funding projects will open on Tuesday, November 1, 2022. It will close on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. Read more

2022 Georgia Funders' Forum Workshop 

The one-day workshop will provide access to managers of various state and federal financing programs. Participants will learn how to access traditional funding sources and learn more information about the EPA-required lead service line inventory. The workshop will also explore newer sources of funding that have resulted from the COVID-19 pandemic. Read more

2022 Clean Watersheds Needs Survey 

GEFA has contracted with Wood/WSP to administer the 2022 Clean Watersheds Needs Survey (CWNS) on behalf of the state of Georgia. The 2022 CWNS is critically important because it will establish the basis for the state's public wastewater systems' needs and the allotment of federal funds Georgia receives. Staff highlight: Shane Hix

Q: What do you do for GEFA?

A: I am the director of public affairs and IT.


Q: How long have you worked for GEFA?

A: I have worked at GEFA for 15 years.


Q: Where did you grow up?

A: I grew up in Snellville, Georgia, where everybody's somebody.


Q: Where did you go to college?

A: The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech).


Q: Are you a sports fan? What team do you pull for?

A: I'm not as avid of a sports fan as I used to be, but the team I pull for the hardest is Georgia Tech. Go Jackets! I also root for the Braves and Falcons. 


Q: What has been your favorite memory from this past year?

A: The Braves winning the World Series.


Q: What is your favorite television show?

A: The Andy Griffith Show.


Q: What is something that most people do not know about you?

A: I play pool in a local league.


Q: What is the best advice that you've been given? Who/where was it from?

A: My dad taught me to work as hard as I could to make sure the job was done right the first time.
