Wyoming's Tomorrow Scholarship

There has never been a better time to come back to college. If you are 24 years of age or older and have been wanting to start college or finish the degree you started, you can receive up to $7,200 to put toward tuition.

Wyoming’s Tomorrow is a new state-funded scholarship program for adults enrolling at one of Wyoming’s eight community colleges or the University of Wyoming to pursue a degree or certificate. You can receive up to $1,800 per semester if enrolled in 12 credit hours or more for up to four full-time academic terms. Scholarships are prorated for students enrolled less than full-time at $150 per credit hour.

Getting To Know Your Financial Aid

There are different types of financial aid awards, each with their own specific details and rules. Not all financial aid is created equal! Do you know what types of aid you are receiving, and what you need to do to receive all of your aid and maintain eligibility? Read on for more details!

Grants

Most grants are a form of federal financial aid. They do not need to be repaid upon graduation/leaving school.

Typically, eligibility for grants is determined based on financial need - which comes from completing the FAFSA.

Therefore, a FAFSA is required for most grants.

Scholarships

Scholarships, like grants, are another form of "free money" for school - they do not need to be repaid upon graduation/leaving school. Scholarships can be from the institution, local or national organizations, or private donors. LCCC is proud to have over 400 private donor scholarships for our students! You have to apply specifically for scholarships that you may qualify for in most cases.

Student Loans

Federal student loans do need to be repaid upon graduation or leaving school. Federal loans do have a "grace period" before entering repayment. Subsidized federal loans are need-based, and do not accrue interest while you are in school. Unsubsidized federal loans do gather interest while you are in school. You must complete a FAFSA to be eligible for federal student loans.

Federal Work Study

Federal work study provides eligible students who work at certain on-campus jobs. Not all on-campus jobs require Federal Work Study. Federal Work Study jobs are just like regular jobs - you are paid an hourly rate for the work you do, earning a normal paycheck that goes to you, not to your tuition! The difference is the funding source of that paycheck - and that's why some jobs on-campus are only offered for federal work study students.

You must complete a FAFSA to apply for federal work study - and you have to apply for and be offered a federal work study job.

The LCCC Student Hub is here to help you if you have questions about your financial aid or paying for college!
