GEO Prep Mid City is Officially Open!

Greetings!

I'm not sure I could have ever imagined this development when the Louisiana Department of Education called GEO back in 2013 and invited us to start a charter school, but after two great years of service through our first school in Baton Rouge, we cut the ribbon on our second school. Wow!

This year, we will serve nearly 1,000 Baton Rouge students in two different schools that are about 3 miles apart from one another. Both schools have a waiting list, too.

The two schools will feature the same world class model of excellence including Core Knowledge, Teach Like a Champion strategies, and the Teacher and Student Advancement Program, better known as the TAP system.  Our blending of these research-based and proven approaches to education led to our first school posting some of the best scores in the state for English, Math and Science and indeed beating the statewide average in several subjects.

The Baton Rouge Advocate was on hand yesterday to do a story on the grand opening and posted this  story (click the link) on the front page of their Metro section today.  I couldn't ask for a better report. Thank you Mr. Lussier.

None of the achievements at GEO Prep and now GEO Prep Mid City would have been possible without the great leadership of our board, our school leader, and our dedicated staff in Baton Rouge.  We have thoroughly enjoyed working with the many community leaders in Baton Rouge and with the Department of Education.

Next up--we start laying plans for our high school.  We look forward to bringing our accelerated college approach to Baton Rouge and helping students graduate from high school having already earned an Associate Degree, or better yet, a Bachelor degree (completely paid for by us, too).

Sincerely,
