Brett and Jolene traveled to New York City to give a presentation to Touro University's leadership at their semi-annual retreat. We had the opportunity to talk with many of the five dozen leaders gathered from Tour's campuses across the U.S. and in Europe, and to see Touro's new campus building in Times Square.

1) The Jackson Group announced plans to open a Peterbilt truck dealership in the Great Falls International Airport's new light industrial park. The company will occupy the entire first industrial bay building. Development of the Park is a partnership of the airport and Dick Anderson Construction. See KRTV.


2) Cascade County Commissioner Joe Briggs joined Jake, Jolene, and Brett to exhibit at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in DC that attracted 5,000 business leaders from around the globe who are interested in investing in the United States. We had the opportunity to network at special events held by the Canadian, German, and Japanese delegations. GFDA has pitched the Great Falls Montana region at all ten SelectUSA Summits.


3) Congratulations to Stahly Engineering & Associates, Inc. on the opening of their first office in Downtown Great Falls, located at 219 2nd Ave South. TDS Telecommunications LLC celebrated the opening of their retail store in Great Falls, located at 415 3rd St. NW. See: KRTV.


4) The Montana Department of Commerce announced another round of the low interest business loan Montana State Small Business Credit Initiative 2.0 (SSBCI 2.0) program. State priorities this round are Native American owned businesses, Veteran owned businesses, and businesses located in rural areas. These funds are limited so start talking with GFDA now, if you have a project that could move forward with the benefit of low interest rate funding. If you have a business startup or expansion planned that could benefit from a loan participation, contact Jill at JKohles@GrowGreatFalls.org or 1-406-590-1056.


5) The Montana Red Cross is investing $3 million to expand its biomedical facilities in Great Falls, one of its 21 reference facilities across the U.S. See TheElectric.

7) Two community efforts in the Great Falls trade area won one of seven grants statewide from the Montana Department of Commerce's new Pilot Community Tourism Grant Program. The Blackfeet Tribe and Havre Tourism will each receive $1.25 million over the next two years to improve tourism assets and infrastructure.

9) The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) has recently announced that it will temporarily pause accepting applications for federal small business certifications beginning August 1st through September as it performs system upgrades to its certifications portal. If you’ve been working on your certification application, we recommend completing your submission before August 1st. Zero to 5 has launched the Montana Child Care Business Connect website to help support the startup and expansion of early childcare businesses. The Great Falls Childcare Demand Assessment shows a need for additional childcare facilities to serve 580 children in Great Falls. Cybersecurity challenges for businesses continue to grow. The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center (MMEC) is offering an array of useful resources to help Montana businesses to protect themselves.


USDA opened a new round of Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) grants and loans. Rural small businesses and agricultural producers can use the funds to make energy-efficiency improvements, lower operating costs, or install renewable energy systems. The Montana Manufacturing Extension Center has launched the Certified Manufacturing Associate Apprenticeship program. This one-year program combines on-the-job training with online technical classes on safety, math and measurements, manufacturing processes, and quality control.



If you are trying to redevelop a property that involves an environmental cleanup (including lead paint and asbestos) and you have a gap in your financing, your project may qualify for our low-interest brownfield redevelopment loan funds. We can make loans anywhere in Cascade County or within 100 miles from the borders of Cascade County, which covers much of the region. We're eager to help make your project move forward. Do you have open government contracts? Is your SAM.gov registration due to renew in the next few months? SAM.gov continues to have issues with the transition of the new validation process.
