Linda O'Toole, GFWC Florida President | |
Good Morning GFWC Florida.
Thank you everyone who attended the Summer Planning which became a packed house at GFWC Vero Beach club. I appreciate everyone taking the time and expense to attend and I appreciate the many ladies who presented our programs for this administration.
A huge thank you to Dara Bergdoll and committee for organizing and coordinating the entire day. Thank you Sheryl Molter for all the work you performed, even getting our food and drinks. Thank you GFWC Sebastian Women’s Club for a delightful bar-b-que at the end of the day.
Please see a review of the meeting and activities by Dara in this newsletter.
The Call to Fall Board, September 23-25, 2022 has been completed and you will soon receive it. We look forward to seeing you in Orlando.
If you are making bears or afghans for Camp Boggy Creek, please bring those to Fall Board so we can have an accounting of what we are providing.

GFWC Kentucky’s President, Susette Redwine, has provided some ways to help those affected by the devastating flooding in KY. To donate to our Federation sister, mail gift Cards to GFWC Kentucky at PO Box 1587, Frankfort, KY 40602. They recommend VISA, General Dollar, Family Dollar, Walmart and Lowes gift cards. On Saturday, August 27 the Kentucky Executive Committee will meet and package the gift cards received and then will deliver them to the members who are in need of assistance. They are working with their Club Presidents to keep up to date as to who is in need.
Thank you for keeping these sisters in your prayers.
Linda O’Toole, GFWC FL President

SUMMER CAMP aka Summer Planning.
Saturday was a great day to learn new information, get a different spin on something already known, and just connect with federation sisters.
A HUGE thank you to the GFWC Florida Executive Committee under the direction of our President Linda O'Toole, ALL OF OUR PRESENTERS, Allie Rines, Sheryl Molter, GFWC Vero Beach Woman's Club, GFWC Sebastian River Junior Woman's Club, and all of you who jumped in to help. Our presenters did an amazing job sharing their knowledge! Some of them were seasoned speakers and some of them were first timers...that can be scary. They said "YES" when asked and I appreciate their enthusiasm for GFWC Florida. The attendees were bright eyed (maybe caffeinated), engaged, and excited. Did I say they were amazing? AMAZING!
GFWC Florida...your board of directors is fantastic! Don't miss your opportunity to see them in action at Fall Board on September 23-25, 2022.

"GFWC Rotonda West Woman's Club sent great big thanks to all who helped make the 2022 Kids' Needs Shoes and Socks Drive an overwhelming success.
133 pairs of shoes and 267 pairs of socks were delivered to Kids' Needs of Englewood on August 3rd. Many people in the community saw our coverage in the local newspapers and donated money to the cause.
Health and Wellness Chairman Jennifer Cope has done such a great job with this program ever since Kicks for Kids was introduced in 2020 and she plans to keep it growing!"

The ladies of GFWC North Pinellas Woman's Club emptied eleven monotubes as part of our effort to reduce fishing line environmental impacts. There is a network of monofilament bins throughout our county where old fishing line can be deposited for recycling. Plastic fishing line poses a serious threat to birds and other wildlife, and can take over 600 years to break down. In the past six months, our ladies have recycled over 35,000 feet of fishing line! We are happy to do our part to protect the beautiful corner of the world in which we live.

GFWC LUTZ-LAND O'LAKES WOMAN'S CLUB members are wasting no time in preparing for their BIG annual Arts & Crafts Show in December. They are already busily crafting many items to be sold in the club booth such as the adorable angel ornaments (pictured) made by recycling men's ties....the more colorful, the better. These clubwomen are very savvy recyclers and extremely eco-conscious of upcycling rather than tossing away usable items in area landfills. The ladies enjoy the camaraderie and socializing while they work with their sister members and guests on craft days.

When the Gulf Breeze Middle School Parent-Teacher Organization began selling commemorative bricks to raise funds to replace the school's 1970's-era marquee, GFWC Santa Rosa Woman's Club helped raise awareness by promoting the campaign on social media, distributing order forms at a meeting, and purchasing a brick recognizing the club. Gulf Breeze Middle School opens the school year on August 10 with a brand new digital marquee on busy Highway 98. The commemorative bricks pave a small landscaped section at the front of the school. The Education and Libraries CSP and Santa Rosa Woman's Club enjoy a longstanding relationship with the middle school, where a member's son is principal.
