I am honored to be the president of GFWDHA this year. I look for forward to serving all my fellow hygienists. I am so proud of how all of you have stepped up to face all the unexpected challenges of COVID 19.
Your Board of Directors have been meeting, virtually, to plan the upcoming year. We have a great slate of speakers scheduled with informative and interesting topics. Our regular monthly meetings maybe held virtually. You will be receiving an invitation to attend with current location or format. Hope to “see” all of you each month.
There are three four hour upcoming continuing education classes scheduled. Currently to be held at Texas Star in Euless. Please check your invitations and Face Book as these may change to a virtual format.
ADHA and TDHA has been working tirelessly to support ALL RDH’s. Please support your profession and each other by continuing your membership or by becoming a new member.
There are many ways to become active, starting right here at GFW. There are several BOD and committee positions available, including delegates for the TDHA meeting in February,
We are better together.

LEGISLATIVE NEWS
Our next legislative session is just around the corner. It is going to be a very different setting for our Legislators. NO face to face meetings, NO Legislative Awareness Days on the Capitol. So you ask what does this mean to me?
A lot, we can get into our local representative and Senators offices NOW and get to know them. Learn about what they might be trying to pass this year, so where can we help them. I can spread the news around my neighborhood, church, friends about the good agenda items Representative _______ is supporting.
TDA might be nothing definite as of this newsletter: presenting a bill for teledentistry. With adding verbiage, of some kind, wanting a visit by a dentist before every visit. We might be able to work it so they can receive payment for visual diagnosis, is a thought. We have nothing at this time just thoughts. They also want to belittle our education.
We need to present ourselves to our Representatives and Senators as the professionals we are. Let them know about our education and what all it takes to become a Registered Dental Hygienist. Including all the prerequisites requirements. If you know someone who is licensed in another state to administer local anesthesia, let your Representative and Senator know they are not able to use their education to the fullest.
Discuss about Covid and all the hardships both in the office and out of the office you have faced.
You may be receiving a phone call from Stephanie Smith, TDHA Lobbyist asking you for assistance please help.
This year is going to be a different Legislative year so let's use this to make strides toward our own goals.

We are also going to be asking for donations for TDHA HY-PAC. This is our political action committee. The funds raised thru HY-PAC are used to support legislators who are willing to support us ( TDHA.) We need to build our funds so we can support those who are willing to stand up for the future of dental hygiene.
