GGUSD Families Celebrate the Completion of PESA Program

GGUSD's Parent & Community Outreach team was proud to celebrate nearly 80 families on Friday for the completion of GGUSD's PESA (Parent Expectations Support Achievement) Program!

PESA is a powerful parent education program that equips parents and caregivers with 15 research-based strategies to support students’ academic success (Goal 1) and social-emotional development (Goal 2). Through PESA, families learn how to strengthen parenting skills, build positive communication with their children , create a loving and supportive home environment and use effective strategies that help students thrive in school and beyond. PESA was held over three consecutive Friday nights at Peters K–3 Elementary School and offered in Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, English, and Arabic.

Board of Education Vice President & Trustees Attend Youth Baseball Opening Day Parade

GGUSD Board of Education Vice President Lan Nguyen and Trustees Teri Rocco and Walter Muneton were thrilled to join the annual West Garden Grove Youth Baseball Opening Day Parade this past Saturday, a cherished community tradition since 1957! It was a fantastic celebration to help kick off the new season!

Alamitos Intermediate Hosts Lunar New Year Celebration

Alamitos Intermediate celebrated the Lunar New Year with a joyful celebration that brought together staff, students, and families for an unforgettable evening of culture and community!

The festivities featured an exciting lion dance performance that energized the crowd and filled the campus with vibrant sights and sounds. Families also enjoyed a beautiful áo dài fashion show, where students, staff, and families proudly showcased traditional attire—highlighting the elegance, color, and cultural significance of this special celebration.

Events like these reflect GGUSD’s commitment to honoring the diverse cultures that make our district so special. Thank you to the Alamitos community for coming together to celebrate tradition, unity, and the start of a prosperous new year!

GGUSD Students Showcase Their Musical Talent at the 2026 Honor Orchestra Concert

Music filled the Don Wash Memorial Auditorium on Thursday, February 5, as more than 200 talented GGUSD orchestra students from elementary, intermediate, and high schools came together for the GGUSD Honor Orchestra Concert!

The evening showcased the incredible depth of musicianship and artistic excellence across the district. GGUSD was proud to welcome Dr. Tammy S. Yi of Chapman University as the guest conductor for the high school honor orchestra, making the performance even more special.

This unforgettable concert reflected the dedication of our students, directors, and families who continue to support high-quality music education throughout GGUSD. Bravo to all involved!

GGUSD High School Students Shine Bright at the 2026 Theatre Festival

Bravo to all seven GGUSD high schools for lighting up the stage at our annual GGUSD Theatre Festival on Tuesday, February 10th! Hosted at the Los Amigos Little Theater, the day was a powerful celebration of student talent, creativity, and collaboration across our district. We are so proud of the passion and artistry our performers brought to the spotlight!

Fitz Intermediate Language Academy Celebrates Community & Culture at Lunch with a Loved One Event

Last Friday, Fitz Intermediate Language Academy welcomed families to campus for Lunch with a Loved One, a special opportunity for students to share a meal and meaningful time with the people who support them most.

Adding to the celebration, the Los Amigos Lion Dancers put on an energetic and vibrant performance that showcased cultural tradition and school spirit—bringing smiles, excitement, and applause from students and families alike!

GGUSD High School Students Take a Meaningful Field Trip to Long Beach

On Saturday, GGUSD students from Santiago, Los Amigos, and Rancho took a meaningful field trip to Long Beach as part of an Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELO) activity, attending Womens shelter of Long Beach’s 9th Annual Teen Dating Violence Awareness Youth Conference, “REWRITE THE STORY: #KnowTheSigns.”

The conference focused on equipping and empowering young people with the tools to recognize and respond to subtle signs of abuse , helping prevent harmful cycles from continuing.

Russell Elementary Hosts Pastries with the Principal Event

Russell Elementary recently hosted Pastries with the Principal, welcoming nearly 70 family members to a fun morning focused on Goal 1: Academic Skills (with a focus on math). Staff shared the importance of building a strong foundation in math and highlighted the school's multiplication math incentive.

Families also had the opportunity to visit their child’s classroom for 20 minutes to participate in an interactive math experience together. In addition, families enjoyed playing a math game as a group with fun prizes and received math resources for families to use at home in engaging and meaningful ways. As a community school, Russell values its partnership with families and appreciate their continued support!

Simmons Elementary Students Practice Their Musical Skills

In classrooms filled with focus and enthusiasm, scholars are building their musical talents through recorder lessons. From learning proper technique to practicing new notes and songs, students are developing rhythm, coordination, and confidence with every practice session.

Music education at GGUSD helps students strengthen creativity, perseverance, and teamwork — and at Simmons Elementary, the sound of recorders playing in harmony is a wonderful reminder of learning in action. Way to go, Simmons scholars!

Pre-Enroll Your Child for the 2026/27 School Year!

GGUSD has opened pre-enrollment for the 2026-27 school year. We encourage families registering children in Preschool, Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten to get started today!

Parents should pre-enroll online at enroll.ggusd.us and contact their child’s home school for support.

The GGUSD Roadmap to Success event will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at Bolsa Grande High School for students in grades 6–12 and their families. The event will include workshops on CSU/UC admissions, high school preparation, financial aid, college applications, and career pathways. It will also feature a CTE Showcase with hands-on activities, along with a Special Education Resource Fair and workshops on transition services, postsecondary support, and post-graduation resources.

Free Live-Chat Tutoring for All GGUSD Students

GGUSD has partnered with Varsity Tutors to offer FREE 24/7 live chat tutoring and one-hour tutoring sessions to support students in their academic success (Goal 1). The program is accessible from home through ClassLink using a district-provided device.
