The Board of Education welcomed the district's new or promoted administrators, an awesome group of leaders who are ready to kick off the district's 60th anniversary year with a commitment to equipping all students with the academic skills (Goal 1) and personal skills (Goal 2) for lifelong success (Goal 3). These administrators cannot wait to welcome students back to school on August 11 and are ready for a successful 2025-26 school year.

GGUSD Hosts Annual Superintendent's Keynote Address

GGUSD teachers and staff gathered for an inspiring Keynote Address led by Superintendent Dr. Gabriela Mafi and our Assistant Superintendents to kick off the 2025-2026 school year and celebrate GGUSD’s 60th anniversary! The event highlighted key goals for the year ahead and featured incredible performances from our talented Visual and Performing Arts Department and the energetic Garden Grove High School drumline. Here's to a year of excellence, growth, and celebration!

GGUSD Celebrates Completion of New CTE Skilled Trades Classroom

Yesterday, GGUSD staff and dignitaries celebrated the completion of a new CTE Skilled Trades Pathway classroom located at Rancho Alamitos High School and specially designed for teaching Skilled Trades career skills such as carpentry, plumbing and electrical. Students in the Pathway will gain the skills and experience needed to enter an apprenticeship right after high school as well as essential safety certifications needed in the industry.

The Skilled Trades will welcome its first cohort of 42 students on the first day of school and marks the beginning of an exciting future of new opportunities for GGUSD students. The ribbon cutting showcased the industrial-grade upgrades including durable flooring, exposed ductwork, electrical enhancements, a wash station, and a roll-up garage door — all carefully designed to reflect a real-world trade environment. The celebration was attended by members of the GGUSD Board of Education, local and state officials, and key partners who helped bring the vision to life including representatives from the North Orange County ROP, Orange County Department of Education and the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters.

GGUSD Celebrates Grand Opening and Transformation of the Mark Twain Special Education Center & Adult Transition Program Campus

On Wednesday, GGUSD families, staff and dignitaries came together to celebrate the grand opening and transformation of the Mark Twain Special Education Center and Adult Transition Program (ATP) campus. This expansion features 2 new classroom buildings housing 12 state-of-the-art classrooms as well as a new Administrative Building, restrooms, shade structures, expanded parking, upgraded infrastructure and beautiful landscaping. This transformation combines the existing Mark Twain program with the ATP students previously located at the Jordan site. Bringing the two programs together provides a more cohesive support system, strengthening services, maximizing resources and fostering a more connected and inclusive special education community.

Ralston Intermediate Sets 7th Graders Up for Success on their First Day

It was Super Week across GGUSD! Teachers and staff spent each day participating in hands-on workshops and trainings to gear up for a successful school year. TK teachers came together for an exciting few days of learning, collaboration, and inspiration during TK Academy as they explored foundational instructional strategies to engage young learners and discovered new ways to integrate play-based learning and boost early success in English and Math! It was a week full of energy, ideas, and joyful preparation for the year ahead!

TOMORROW: Community Aid Drive to Provide Essential Support

GGUSD is hosting a Community Aid Drive TOMORROW, Saturday, August 9th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the District Office! Community members can drive through the front parking lot (enter from Stanford Ave. by the Post Office) to drop off donated items. 

Donated items will be distributed directly to GGUSD families in need through their school sites during the first week of school. Let’s come together to make a difference!

GGUSD to Host Blood Drive on August 11

The Red Cross is hosting a Blood Drive on Monday, August 11 from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. at our Edgar facility. Every donation helps patients in need and strengthens our community!

Free Live-Chat Tutoring for All GGUSD Students

GGUSD has partnered with Varsity Tutors to offer FREE 24/7 live chat tutoring and one-hour tutoring sessions to support students in their academic success (Goal 1). The program is accessible from home through ClassLink using a district-provided device.
