Message From Our PTA Presidents
Hi GHS community,
We've made our way through a third of the year! This past month, we analyzed the feedback we received through the staff/family surveys, hosted dinner for our teachers, supported food and holiday needs of our members, and completed our first community conversation. Alongside you all, we also learned a lot through parent-teacher conferences and now are getting ready to embark on a restorative winter break.
We look forward to hitting the ground running in January with continuing our Parent Education Series, hosting our first GHE Lunar New Year celebration, our second general membership meeting, and our first Art Walk on February 9th!
As we reflect on these past months, we'd like to thank all of you who have volunteered your time, energy, and support inside and outside of the classroom. Whether sending us an email to increase awareness of an issue, being a teacher who advocated at one of our meetings, or being a room parent with feet on the ground, each moment of engagement matters to strengthening this community.
As leadership, we remain committed to being your PTA. Being open and transparent is a large component of the culture of belonging we'd like to foster. We have had numerous conversations over the past month with you, with building leadership, and with staff. One common theme in all those conversations is about strengthening our community and connection to each other.
Which leads to a question we pose to you? What kind of culture do we want to have at GHE and how can we build it? One change you'll see at our January 17th General Membership Meeting is building more space for us to talk with one another. We hope to create more moments to connect, build trust, and work together. We are very much looking forward to seeing you all there.
Wishing you each a warm, healthy, and happy holidays.
Sincerely,
Lia, Michael, and your PTA Board
