Solidarity Week 2018 | February 12-16th
Although February brings bitter cold weather and short days, life in a hospital environment can be made a little sweeter for patients, staff, and students through participation in GHHS's Solidarity Week for Compassionate Patient Care . In the past, Solidarity Week has focused on a single project, Tell Me MoreĀ®; this year we are encouraging participants to engage in any activity to show solidarity through February 12 -16th. The more medical students involved in the project the better. All hospital staff are encouraged to participate in and enjoy the activities, as well! We will be happy to feature your chapter's activities in our Spring edition of the Gold Connection; to do that, we need to HEAR and SEE what your chapter is doing! Post your activities and progress on our GHHS Facebook page or email our office staff.
.

Please share how this powerful week impacts your patients by emailing pictures or posting on social media tagging @GoldFdtn and using #SolidarityWeek .

GHHS Chapter in Illinois sends over 3,000 tons of food to Puerto Rico
Our Chapter at the University of Illinois College of Medicine-Urbana Champaign hosted a food packaging project to send resources to Ponce Health Sciences University in Puerto Rico. In 4 hours, 177 volunteers prepared over 5,000 packages (each holding 6 servings) of rice and rice-soy casseroles. With the help of the chapter, Ponce representatives and dedicated student Eduardo Lopez, the shipment arrived in Ponce, Puerto Rico, on December 22nd.

We thank all of our chapters that supported our relief efforts and came to the aid of our fellow GHHS Chapter!

If you have participated or are currently participating in our relief efforts, we would love to hear from you!

Looking for a way to celebrate your residents?

GHHS is excited to launch Thank a Resident Day on Friday, February 23rd, and we want you to join! We are offering students the chance to show their gratitude to the unsung teachers of their medical school clerkships, the house-staff. We believe this will be a wonderfully creative and meaningful GHHS project to help relieve the pressures residency brings. We hope that you and your chapter will consider at least tip-toeing in this year with an eye to expand next year. Stay tuned for additional information.
Medical Student Scholarship and Education Opportunity
