GREAT HEARTS IRVING ANNOUNCEMENTS
PSO News

All GHI families are invited to participate in one of our holiday traditions, the Snowflake Fund . Also, don't miss the GHI Spirit Night tomorrow, December 11 from 4:00-10:00 p.m. at Torchy's Tacos and mark your calendars for the Annual Cookie Exchange on December 16. Parents are invited to donate baked goods for faculty and staff. Stay tuned for a link to sign up!
Great Hearts Lakeside

Opening in August of 2020, Great Hearts Lakeside will be located in Fort Worth, Texas and serve K-5 families. If you have friends or family in the area, encourage them to attend the Information Night on December 17 at 6:00 p.m. at the Southwest Community Center.

LOWER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Window into Wonder Tours

Lower School families are invited to join the Headmaster for one of many Window into Wonder Tours, where we will spend time exploring the rich instruction your children experience every day. Click here to register.
Winter Concert

The Lower School Winter Concert will be held on Thursday, December 12 at the Irving Bible Church (2435 Kinwest Pkwy Irving, Texas 75063). K-2 Grade students should arrive at 5:00 p.m. for the program beginning at 5:15 p.m. 3-5 Grade Students should arrive at 6:00 p.m. for their program which begins at 6:30 p.m. Click here for the dress code.
Quarter Two Clubs

Quarter Two clubs have been truly delightful. Their last meeting was on Monday, December 9. Stay tuned for more information on the Quarter Three Lower School club offerings!
Latin Appreciation Night

All are invited to join us on January 23 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. for a special night in celebration of our Latin program. Our teachers are preparing to regale you with an exploration of Latin and the reasons why we teach it, dramatic recitations, and more. We hope to see you there!
UPPER SCHOOL ANNOUNCEMENTS
Coffee with the Headmaster

Ninth-grade families are invited to join the Upper School Headmaster on Wednesday, December 11 from 8:00-8:50 a.m. for coffee and an informal conversation focused on grade-level specifics. Tenth-grade families, save the date for December 18. Click here to RSVP.
Theometha

All High School (9-11) students are invited to Theometha on Thursday, December 13. The free event will feature Japenese Directory Akira Kurosawa's famous film Seven Samurai. A brief seminar will follow the film. Students should dress thoughtfully and come prepared to enjoy movie snacks, a captivating film, and lively conversation. Learn more and sign up here.
Prospective Parent Tours

If you have friends interested in GHI, please refer them to sign up for a tour. Referrals are highly valuable, and we trust our current families to spread the word. Open Enrollment ends on December 13. Families who apply after this date will not be included in the lottery, but will be added to the wait list.
Window into Wonder Tours

Families are invited to join the Upper School Headmaster for the next Window into Wonder Tuesday, December 17 from 9:15-9:55 a.m. Tour the building, step into classrooms, and observe all the rich offerings available to your scholars. Sign up here.

College Counselor News: Apply Texas

Apply Texas is a website with admission information for every Texas public university and two-year school, plus many private colleges and universities. This year, Apply Texas has changed the essay prompts. It is suggested that students practice one of the prompts over the break.

Beverages on Campus

Please remember that only bottled water with a lid is allowed in classrooms or halls ( handbook, page 70). Students who have other drinks in hallways or classrooms may be asked to throw it away.
Junior Production

The GHI junior class will be performing Shakespeare’s  Much Ado About Nothing at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 10 and at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 11. This is a date change. Held at the  Firehouse Theater, all performances will last two hours with an intermission. Tickets are $10 each or $60 per family and will be sold online through January 9. Tickets will be sold at the door on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Junior Dinner

We are pleased to announce that all juniors are invited to the Junior Dinner on Thursday, January 16 from 5:15 to 7:45 p.m. at the Great Hearts Irving Upper School. Students will enjoy a leisurely evening dining, conversing, and engaging in various edifying diversions together with their faculty. See here for further detail.
