 Dear GHNO families,

As we continue winding down the year there are so many lovely things happening on campus, from curriculum and literature celebrations to poetry wars and more.

We are happy to announce many of our traditional events are happening as well even if this year they will be done in non-traditional ways.

Speaking of non-traditional ways we are doing things, this Friday we were happy to host our Fezziwig Ball! A 6th-grade student & parent event that is normally held in January after our 6th graders finish reading A Chrismas Carole. We were delighted to bring some Christmas Spirit to April!

A big thank you to our parent committee who patiently waited and planned, then waited some more, and then made it such a beautiful event for our 6th graders. Take a look at some great pictures we received from parents. I especially enjoyed the dancing under the lights in the courtyard!

We are thrilled to announce we will have our Kinder-2nd grade and 6th-grade music concert live-streamed from GHNO. It will be held May 5th during the school day. It will look a little different this year, with the restrictions put on us, but we look forward to having all our families and their extended families able to can watch from the comfort of their office or home. We are hopeful that next year we will resume our regularly scheduled concerts and all the pageantry they hold. If you have a student in one of these grades, their teacher will supply additional details.

Kinder Graduation on May 27-will also be a live-streamed event, please see emails from your student's teacher for additional details.

6th Grade Promotion will also happen on May 27 in the evening will be a live event with a few caveats. 6th-grade families, please watch for emails with additional information.

5th & 6th Grade House Banquet will be held the last day of school, this is one house tradition that we love. This is an event internal to the school.

Much going on these last few weeks before the summer break we hope that you and your students will savor them, we know we will!

Big thanks to the families who headed the call, we bumped up to a 50% family participation rate, which means about 1/2 of our families have made a gift this year (typically we are at a 64%).

We recognize this year has had its struggles, which is why your support is more important than ever!

New '21-'22 GHNO T-shirt Designs Available Now on the PSO WEBSITE! - We're excited to announce an EARLY BIRD OFFERING of our '21-'22 GHNO Spirit t-shirts! You may order now through May 5th for in-class delivery in May or shop in person at our "Sidewalk Sale" (see next bullet point).

PSO Sidewalk Sale - May 8th 11 am-2 pm. Used Uniforms and our new GHNO Spirit t-shirts will be for sale on Saturday, May 8th, 11 am-2 pm. Tents will be located around the corner of the lower school front steps. Cash/check helpful, Cards accepted
Advocacy Corner
Texas Charter School Advocacy
GH Advocacy Corner 

The Texas Public Charter School Association has been tracking the non-discrimination bill -- HB1348 – that would prohibit cities and municipalities from creating a separate set of rules for charter schools to open and operate. The bill has been sitting in the House Calendars Committee for nearly a month, after which it must be scheduled for a vote on the House floor. Stay tuned for updates and action alerts on this priority legislation through the Texas Public Charter School Association by signing up here.

Attendance & Absences: 
B&M Students: Student attendance is tracked at 10 a.m. daily. For absences, please e-mail Rebecca Danet if your student will be out for the day.  When they return, please remember to bring a doctor's note if appropriate. If e-mail is not available, leave a message on the attendance line at 210-888-9483, option 1 for Lower School, then option 0 for the attendance line.
DL Students: Parents must report any full-day absence during Distance Learning. Please contact Rebecca Danet if your child is sick and cannot attend distance learning for that day.
