Hello Great Hearts Northern Oaks Families,

Please review our GHNO Traffic Guidelines. Understanding our traffic guidelines, and the assigned wave times help improve traffic flow and set realistic arrival expectations.

Please note the first few weeks will be a learning curve, and afterschool pick up in particular could take a little longer than usual. Once a few weeks pass and families get the hang of the system it will improve. The most important part is following the rules.



You should have received instructions on logging into the CurbSmart app and your placards at our back-to-school events. If you were not able to attend, your placards will come home with your student on the first day of school. CurbSmart instructions are also available here.

Lot Assignments:

• Grades K-6: Lower School Lot
• Grades 7-12 and lower school siblings: Upper School Lot

One clarification on tardies: The tardy bell rings at 7:50 AM. If your student is not in their classroom ready to learn, they are considered tardy. If your child arrives after the car line has ended and there are no parking attendants in the lot, you must park, walk your student in, and sign them in at the front desk.

Traffic Notes:

• Left turns into lots from Jones Maltsberger are not allowed during pickup/drop-off. Use the Church Lot across from Driscoll Middle School to turn around.
• Side roads and private drives are off-limits for shortcuts.
• Do not arrive before your wave time; gates open at the start of your assigned window. Arriving early will result in re-queuing.
• Placards with your family number must be visible and help staff manage traffic and students.

Guidelines:

• Stay in your vehicle during pickup/drop-off. Follow the officer and traffic attendant directions.
• Do not U-turn on Jones Maltsberger; U-turns are dangerous and illegal.
• Cell phone use while driving or in school lots is prohibited.
• SAPD monitors our street, and tickets will be issued for traffic violations.

Drop-Off (7:15-7:50 AM):

• Arrive after 7:10 AM; do not queue earlier.
• Do not slow drive (5-10 MPH) down Jones Maltsberger - it blocks traffic for everyone else, including faculty.
• Wait for the traffic captain's instructions before unloading and leaving.



The safety of our students and staff is our highest priority. Thank you in advance for your cooperation to ensure we achieve success during our pick-up and drop-off times.

All students MUST be picked up by 4:15 PM (2:10 PM on early release days) unless they are enrolled in an after-school activity (clubs and many athletics will not begin until September).

Late Pick-Up: If you arrive after 4:15 PM (2:10 PM on early release days), students will be monitored by Athenaeum/Homework Club at a charge of $1 per minute.

Parents arriving after regular pick-up times will need to park in the Lower School Lot and sign their child out at the front desk. A grace period will be extended for morning tardiness and for the pickup cut-off time for the first two weeks of the school year to give families and faculty time to become familiar with the new routines.
