Good Evening,

I feel the need to share a story with you that occurred Thursday. The students had just left the cafeteria after lunch and it was me and the cafeteria workers. One of them came over to me and said how incredibly impressed she was with how students interacted with her and the staff. She said that they constantly say "please" and "thank you" and actually ask her how she's doing each day. I responded with, "This is a special place and our students are awesome!"

Please sign up for student-led conferences which will occur virtually this year on October 30th (see below).

We are also very excited to show off our school this Friday and next Monday and Tuesday as GHS is up for their decennial accreditation. This is a major deal and we've outlined the process below.

Have a great week!

Friday, October 30th

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Gilford High School will hold REMOTE Student-Led Conferences on Friday, October 30th from 8 AM-2:45 PM. We believe that it's crucial for the child to play a major role in their own education. We ask that your child attend the conference with you to facilitate the meeting and articulate what he/she is learning. Gilford High School will be using Google Meet as the online platform to conduct all of the conferences. There are two options parents/students can use to participate, either they can link up to the meeting using a webcam or they can telecommunicate into the meeting over the phone. Access codes and telephone listings for all of the meetings will be shared with parents and students in the upcoming week and can be found on the below hyperlink. Simply cut and paste the Google Meet link into the search engine's URL and you will be guided to the scheduled meeting. Please note that all teachers have their own unique Google Meet codes and phone listings.

A note from Superintendent Beitler...
I am sharing the guidance from New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services related to travel outside of New England.  We have had several inquiries regarding travel for Thanksgiving or otherwise.  “NH residents or out-of-state visitors traveling to/from areas outside of New England (Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island) need to self-quarantine for the first 14 days of any intended stay in NH after travel (starting from the last day of their travel outside New England). This recommendation is irrespective of the mode of transportation for travel (public vs. private transportation). It is also acceptable for travelers to New Hampshire to self-quarantine in their home state prior to arrival as long as they do not travel on public transportation.”  This is directly from the NH Division of Public Health Bureau of Infectious Disease and Control.
Don't forget to have your child self-screen BEFORE they arrive to school
Do you have any new or unexplained symptoms of COVID-19 (including temp of 100F or greater, chills, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, nasal congestion, runny nose, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new lost of taste or smell, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea)?

Have you had close contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have COVID-19 in the prior 14 days?

Have you traveled in the prior 14 days outside of New England (VT, ME,
MA, CT, RI)?
PSAT for juniors - October 14
Gilford High School is having their decennial accreditation visit by the New England Association for Schools and Colleges on October 16, 19 & 20, 2020. For the last two years, the school community has been involved in preparing a self-reflection, an extensive document that demonstrates ways in which the school is meeting the Standards for Accreditation, identifying priority areas, and implementing our school improvement plan based on those priority areas.
GHS seeks reaccreditation- decennial onsite visit Oct. 16-20
The educators who will be visiting our school will be using those materials as part of their work. An important component of the visit is time designated for members of the visiting team to meet with parents, like you, to learn about the school’s programs, services, improvement areas, and your thoughts about your son/daughter’s experiences at our school. Information gathered during those meetings will be shared with the entire visiting team and incorporated into the school’s Accreditation report.
