Good Monday Morning,
I hope you were able to enjoy the outdoors this weekend. Our family was hoping to catch the big fish but instead we only caught some small ones. We'll have to wait until next year's fishing derby to take first prize.

It's scheduling week at GHS! I was in the library on Friday and I heard some great conversations about scheduling among our students. They were talking about their career paths, jobs, and college. It truly was exhilarating to listen in on these conversations. If you have questions, please contact your child's school counselor about their schedules for next year.

We received information, that a GHS student tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend. The last time that this student was on campus was on January 15th. We determined that there is only one student close contact and this student has not been on campus for over a month as well.

Please contact the front office if you plan on traveling outside of New England so that we can determine the quarantine dates. Thank you for your continued cooperation.

I hope you have an enjoyable February break!

This week in Biology II
The students have been learning about PCR. They extracted some of their DNA and amplified (copied) a region of chromosome 16 that varies among people. Next week they will run DNA gels and see their results.

GHS Math Team
In the January Competition, GHS placed 3rd in the Lakes Region for the large school division. This is one of two meets in a short season. Highest scorer for GHS was Andrew Flanders! Kudos to Sophomore Jesse Powers, and Seniors, Kayla Loureiro, ShuShu Sawyer and Bethany Tanner for their contributions to a strong team performance.
Want to pursue a career???
Mr. Caron is securing numerous speakers for students to meet and talk with. Below is the career speaker schedule for the next three weeks. More speakers will be added. The speaker's names and topics are listed at the bottom of the form. All GHS students will be able to access the speaker's presentations using the meet URL on the calendar. If you are in a class and wish to participate, please ask your teacher, first, prior to joining the Google Meet. Mr. Caron will open the meet 5 minutes before it is scheduled to begin. Individuals and classes are welcome to join in. Hope to see you in one or more career meets.
Need some help with English or math?
Join our Google Meet, starting February 1st, every Monday and Wednesday, from 2:30-3:30.
