EARN SOME EXTRA POINTS!
Each week you can earn extra points by doing the weekly challenge. The next challenge is to make a change by giving up one bad habit. Each participant will decide on their own what habit they are trying to change. Each day you avoid that habit you can earn one point.

Many times we develop these habits as a way of dealing with stress or boredom. For that reason participants should look for a "good" habit to replace the bad. For example, you eat sweets or smoke a cigarette when you are feeling stress. Try something else to replace those habits like taking a brisk walk.

Another tip to help fix habits you do not like is to avoid what triggers those habits. Perhaps you want to stop driving too fast or aggressively. Identify why you drive that way. For example, if you avoid being late by driving too fast, try leaving for your destination earlier so you do not feel hurried. If you know what is causing the stress, try to avoid those situations.

Another way to help you kick a bad habit is to pair up with someone and quit together. Working with others will help hold everyone accountable. Plus you have others to share your success with!

REPORT POINTS
The most important responsibility of the team leader is to submit the team's weekly point totals. To be eligible for the weekly prize drawing, team points are due on Tuesday by 4:00 p.m. That means week 4 points are due on May 23. SHARE YOUR COMMENTS AND PHOTOS
Please share your comments and photos with us! Any comments or photos may be used in publications to promote the challenge and GHT. Our favorite pictures are those showing participants in action. Running a 5K, biking through the countryside or taking a stroll with some friends? Have them snap a picture of you or your team in action and then send it to us.  Please click here  to submit your comments and photos.

The River Rally event raised over $7,000. Shelly Hatch from Burnett County participated in the event along with her sons.

The team Six of a Kind from the Hilbert School District participated in the Sole Runner in Appleton. Over 5,000 people were in attendance.

Two members of the 7 Ladies and A Mike team from the School District of Holmen participated in the Grandad Half Marathon Relay in LaCrosse. Team members Wendy McCoy and Melissa Kaatz are shown with other participants.

Lisa Rudolph from the City of Oshkosh says that keeping a food diary is helping her solve the cause of her migraines. She adds, "I am really dedicating myself this time and it was all prompted by my participation in this challenge."

Terry Schmidt from Columbia County said, "The hardest thing about last week was to go two hours without any electronic devices."

Sheila Rine from Langlade County and her team continue to find 5K runs to participate in. "This is new for some of us and we are really liking them. This challenge really motivates our team to continue to do our best," says Rine.

Amee Hauke and her teammates are enjoying the nicer weather by taking walks on their lunch break. The team from Oshkosh Area School District says they like the extra motivation the challenge provides.

Next week anyone that submits a photo or comment will be entered in a drawing for a prize. Ten winners will receive a GHT insulated shopping bag. Click here to share and to be entered in the drawing!

HOW POINTS ARE EARNED
Participants can earn points each day depending on the amount of time they spend doing a physical activity. Choose which category you achieved and record the corresponding points. For example, if you did a 55 minute workout you would report 3 points for that day.

Amount Of Time
Points Earned
1-30 minutes of physical activity
1 point
31-60 minutes of physical activity
3 points
61-120 minutes of physical activity
5 points
120 minutes or more of physical activity
7 points

Event Participation                                                  5 points
These points are earned by participating in a community or charity sponsored fitness event (ex. 5k run/walk, triathlon, bicycle race, etc.)  These events must be open to the public and you have to participate in the event. Simply volunteering does not qualify you for the points. The event must occur April 23-June 3, 2017.

Each week there is an opportunity to earn additional points. Each day that you complete the respective activity you can add one point to your tracker.

Week
Activity
4
Keep a diary of what food and drinks you consume
5
Make a change by giving up one bad habit
6
Eat a healthy breakfast

You record your points each day and then at the end of the week you report your point total to your team leader. The team leader will submit the team's total points for the week.
TRACKING YOUR POINTS
Each participant will use this tracker to record their daily points. You can print a version if you prefer a paper copy. If you want an electronic version an excel file is also available. This tracker is for your own use and is not turned in.

Below is a completed sample tracker for week 1. In this example the participant worked out 1-30 minutes for 5 days and earned one point on those days. Then Monday and Thursday they had 31-60 minutes of activity so they earned 3 points on those days. They also participated in an event on Sunday so earned 5 points for that. Additionally on Tuesday-Friday they did the bonus challenge so an extra point was earned for each day. This participant would then report 20 points to their team leader.
