What is Brewing for Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country (GHWIC) in 2024?

I always say that the New Year is the best time to dive back into our meaningful work with positivity and hope. The CCG team is excited for 2024 with so much planned! We hope that we can be part of your success the coming New Year and look forward most to the GHWIC Annual Gathering.

As you know, the 2024 Gathering to be held in Albuquerque, NM on April 23-24, 2024. This year’s theme is, “Ascending to a Healthier Future: Fostering Healthy Habits through Tradition and Community".

The mission of the Gathering is to share best practices, promising practices, and draw inspiration from one another. We want all participants to feel that they are part of a bigger plan/goal, to feel connected, and have the opportunity to learn and network.

Proposals can now be submitted! We are excited to invite you to contribute your insights, experiences, and knowledge within chronic disease prevention in your communities. Please consider these topic areas that have been indicated as needs or interests: examples of policies, systems, and environmental (PSE) change in GHWIC; examples of community-clinical linkages (CCL) in GHWIC; best practices for tobacco screening or cessation; retention and community engagement promising practices; cultural adaptations within strategies; public health messaging and toolkits; subject matter experts to discuss diabetes prevention or stroke and heart attack prevention; supporting subawardees in grant writing; sharing strategy toolkits; or examples of holistic wellness approaches.

We would like to allow flexibility and creativity at this year’s event. You may present on an area your program is passionate about or provide a traditional program or strategy work overview. The presentations will be in-person and recorded. Each program has a choice of 15 min, 30 min, or 45 min time slots, or a poster presentation session.

Thank you for helping us make the 2023 GHWIC National Gathering inspirational by submitting your presentation idea here.

Travel Support scholarships will be available to GHWIC members on a first come basis. Please email the CCG to request a “Travel Support Agreement”.

Registration and the room block code for the Marriott will be sent out later this month. Due to venue capacity, each program may register three participants. Each C2 program can bring as many subawardees attendees as they have subawardees programs. If you would like to request to bring more attendees, please simply email your Project Officer and forward the approval to the CCG.

Our virtual door is always open. Feel free to email me at LFLaktonenWard@anthc.org or the team at CCGHWIC@anthc.org.

Quyanaa! Thank you!
