NOTICE TO MARINERS
Dredge Nimitz will begin 24-hour dredging operations on or about 10 AUGUST 2023 for the USACE in the GIWW MILE MARKER 470 TO MILE MARKER 471. This operation will take about 60 days to complete.
The Dredge Nimitz is requesting advance notification of passing vessels on VHF Channel 79 or 16, a slow bell when passing the work to minimize wake, no meeting or overtaking next to the dredge operations, and single-wide passage when possible.
Dredge Nimitz will have approximately 12,000 LF of pipe, Supply barge, Anchor barge, Crane barge and three tender boats. Discharging material for this reach will be in the open water placement area on the North side of the channel.
