GIMSPP Newsletter

Thank you for your continued patience with the GIMSPP match process.

What is My Match Status?

Your GIMSPP application has been received, and we are still working on a potential match

Please note, matching is underway. As soon as updates on your match are available, you will be notified by email. Be sure to check the spam/trash folders of the email you have on file with us and add us to your safe sender's list. All confirmation notices require a response of acceptance.

Due to the volume of match applicants, we are unable to facilitate status update requests by phone or text. Please be on the lookout for emails in the weeks ahead!

Help Improve Your Match Opportunity by Recruiting Your Own Preceptor!

This newsletter will be sent on the 1st of each month and will include important match information, program updates, and opportunities for students and preceptors.

This month we are highlighting ACP Membership and the benefits of making ACP part of your professional home. Medical Student Membership is free, and the benefits of our professional development resources are unmatched!

Some of the benefits of ACP Medical Student Membership:

  • Free online access to leading ACP publications and services such as Annals of Internal Medicine, and ACP JournalWise®
  • Increased clinical knowledge by attending national and local scientific meetings for free, accessing ACP’s Online Learning Center, and using resources like Annals In the Clinic to learn more about common clinical conditions
  • Building your CV and enhance via opportunities to present abstracts at both national and local competitions
  • Free subscription to ACP IMpact, a monthly e-newsletter designed for medical students to learn more about internal medicine and its various career options, as well as read stories about the daily lives of practicing internists
  • Career counseling, volunteerism, and mentorship opportunities

In addition to the many benefits and services that you will receive from the national organization, the Texas Chapter offers local support to medical students as well. Each year, we host a scientific meeting, offering excellent clinical education and abstract opportunities, as well as the ability to connect with your colleagues and mentors about important issues in medicine. Consider joining a chapter committee or applying for the student representative position on the Board. Speed Up Your Match: Recruit Your Preceptor!

Dallas/Fort Worth, El Paso, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Lubbock and their surrounding suburbs are in especially high demand this year. Increase your chances of being matched by recruiting your preceptor! This allows far more control over your location and dates, as well as expedites your match timeline. It's especially important if you are looking to precept in an area near a medical school, including the suburbs around the city. Recommended starting points are the hospitals or clinics you may be interested in working with and Google.
