Upcoming Meeting and IVSS Judges

Welcome to the GLOBE International STEM Network (GISN) Newsletter! The GISN is a network of professionals with backgrounds in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, and more, who promote Earth science education around the world. The goal of this newsletter is to share news, research highlights, and upcoming GLOBE events that pertain to GISN members.

 Upcoming GISN Professional Networking Hours

GISN Social Hours are becoming GISN Professional Networking Hours! We will begin each meeting with a short presentation followed by an informal community meet and greet. Come with a flash talk slide describing your work and interests to share with other members.

GISN Member Spotlight: Halile Paraiso

Halile Paraiso has been involved in the GLOBE Program since 2004 as a student. Twenty years later, Paraiso is a dedicated member of GISN and a GLOBE alumni. He is currently living in Hangzhou, China, where he is pursuing his PhD in the Department of Biosystem Engineering and Food Science at Zhejiang University. His research focuses on characterizing and determining applications, such as packaging, encapsulation, and bioavailability of hydrocolloids. He hopes to apply his research to applications in food and animal science following his doctorate. Alongside his studies, Paraiso is an avid beekeeper with over 20 hives, which allows him to connect with nature. He is also actively collecting GLOBE data in all spheres and supporting GLOBE students in Benin, his home country.

“For me, the GLOBE Program is a twenty-year love story.” – Halile Paraiso
