Community Pools Important Dates
  • Lincoln Park-Moyer Pool will be closing for the season on September 27
  • Orchard Mesa Pool will be opening on September 28

Fall is quickly approaching! That means GJ Parks and Recreation has new programs and services for you and your family to enjoy!

The Early Fall Guide covers activities happening from August 17 - October 4. Be on the look out for the Late Fall Guide which will cover activities happening from October - January!
Swimming Lessons
Learn to Swim at Orchard Mesa Pool! Starting September 29, GJ Parks and Recreation Learn to Swim Lessons will begin with classes for ages 6 months - 15 years old. Lessons will look a bit different with protocols to assure the health and safety of all swimmers.
Cornhole League
Your weekday nights just got a lot more interesting! Grab your best teammate, and bring your 'A-game' to Canyon View Park!

Piano
Learn to play piano in this fun five week course! Students will learn the basics of piano including rhythm, musical notion, and ensemble playing.

Park Grills Closed for Fire Restriction
A Stage 2 Fire Restriction went into effect for Mesa County on August 14. This includes using a charcoal grill. All GJ Parks and Recreation BBQ grills are closed until further notice. For more information on the current Mesa County Fire Restrictions click here.
Dog Days at Lincoln Park!
The best day of summer is happening this fall! Man's best friend can splash in the water and chase tennis balls and frisbees on the lawn. You won't want to miss this fun day where we celebrate our four-legged friends.
Saturday, October 3, 10 am - 2 pm
$5 each or 3-4 dogs in the same family for $12.
New Fitness Circuit
GJ Parks and Recreation is excited to announce we have been selected to receive an AARP Community Challenge Grant! With this grant, a 4-piece fitness circuit will be installed in Sherwood Park in late Fall 2020. The Community Challenge grant funds innovative projects that inspires change in areas.
Dog Park at Las Colonias Now Open!
Grab your four-legged friends and head down to Las Colonias! The west section of the dog park is now open to the public. There are three-sections to the dog park. The other two sections will open next summer. Read More
Classes Have Been Moved to Senior Rec Center or Bookcliff Activity Center
Programs that are usually held at the Lincoln Park Barn will now be held at either the Senior Rec Center or the Bookcliff Activity Center. The Lincoln Park Barn has been converted to a Learning Center for City personnel during the school year.
The Value of Trees
Over the summer, GJ Parks and Recreation Forestry Team and Advisory Board talked with Summer Campers about the environmental, social, and economic benefits that tress provide. A few benefits of trees include improves mental health, increases property value, and provides shade!
Dos Rios Ground Breaking Ceremony
This past month, construction at Dos Rios began to develop the 58 acres into parks, open space, industrial/commercial use, and mixed use. The groundbreaking celebration was held on August 17. If you missed the Facebook live broadcasting the ceremony, you can still watch it here!
Summer Camp Success!
With many unknowns this summer and continuing into the fall, GJ Parks and Recreation's Summer Camps were a success! After adapting to public health guidelines and extending the deadline to accommodate for school being delayed, GJ Parks and Recreation safely had over 250 campers at eight different sites each week.
