WEEKLY WRAP UP

A Message from Superintendent Barrett

Dear GJPS Families,

As many of you are aware, Franklin County was classified purple on the state’s alert system today. Over the course of the past few months, we have learned we can operate safely in our schools even if our alert level is at purple. We will continue to implement mitigation measures diligently, and we will not make changes to our current learning model. We will also continue to work in close collaboration with our COVID Task Force, looking at our local district data, which is being carefully monitored by our school nurses. Our local district data will ultimately guide our decision-making around our learning model.

Did You Know ???

April 30, 2021: No School for GJPS

If you have looked ahead on the school calendar, you may have noticed we have no school on Friday, April 30th.

This day was added to the calendar pre-pandemic as the calendar committee worked to provide a break during the final eight weeks of school.

It is important to know this day off did not reduce the number of student instruction days when it was added to the calendar. We will provide a reminder next week as well.

Kindergarten and Summer School Registration

Kindergarten registration is now open for anyone who will attend Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools and will be FIVE YEARS OLD on or before August 1, 2021.

Summer School registration opens at noon on Monday, April 19, 2021.

We will continue to distribute BinaxNOW At-Home Rapid Test Kits while supplies last. These test kits can be used to detect an active COVID-19 infection.

You may request kits for:

The number of students you have enrolled in Gahanna-Jefferson Public Schools in your household
Up to 2 parents/guardians per household
The number of GJPS staff in your household

Kits are available for pick up for three days after completing the Rapid Test Request Form, at the GJPS Administration Building, 160 S. Hamilton Road. Please ring the bell inside the front door for service.
