If you didn't know already, Patis Bakery will be opening another location on the UWS very soon, moving in with the Chabad of the West Side. We broke the news a little over a year ago of Chabad taking the space and we're happy things are about to be finished. The Chabad is the tenant of the location (former location of Sunflower Cafe) and the plan has been to make half the space a Beit Midrash with learning and daily davening (which has been going on for months) and the other half will be Patis Bakery. York Cafe Replaces Nargila Grill on the Upper East Side

All the experts and insiders who knew better, let me just officially say that the Midtown restaurant has gotten an extension on their lease and they are open, will be open, at least for the next number of months with the hopes that after 100 years of Kosher, they ain't going anywhere. On December 21, 2022, the 4th night of Chanukah, the Turkish Consul General in New York Reyhan Özgür, and Asaf Zamir, Consul General of Israel in New York, among distinguished members of the New York metropolitan Turkish-Jewish community, gathered to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Chanukah, the Festival of Lights. This Chanukah celebration is historic in the sense that for the first time menorah candles were lit in Turkish House. The event was highlighted by the lighting of a Chanukkiah that was salvaged from the destruction of Prague during the holocaust and lent by Thomas Gelb for the event. The event featured traditional Turkish food including kofte and chicken shish, together with the traditional Chanukah latkes, all made by the chefs at Bridge Turkish and Mediterranean Grill, the only glatt kosher Turkish restaurant in the US. The anticipated attendance was 130 people; at 3pm the day of the event that was scheduled for 6:30, the Bridge received a call from the Associate Counsel General that they expected an additional 50 people. In fact, well over 200 people attended this event. The Bridge provided ample food for all the attendees, even with such short notice. The restaurant is no longer under their current supervision and has changed to Rabbi Yehuda El. There is no mashigiach on the premises. I can not tell you if you should or should not go, please ask your local Rabbi. I would personally not go unless there is a supervising agency. They were originally under KLM Kashrus and then changed to Rabbi Navarro in November. As of Sunday, December 20th, the owner decided to stop the supervision because of the extra costs.
