Please stop by the church office or call Lisa at 630-232-0165 if you have questions or need assistance.
Thank you to all who participated in the blood drive held at GLC last week. We had 24 successful donations. Each donation impacts and saves 3 lives— so our blood drive impacted and saved 72 lives! We also had 14 first time donors that day. #generouslifeinChrist

Pastor Trudy's Weekend Message
Jesus looked at them and said, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26

Some would call this reading from Mark 'difficult'. Where last week there were broken relationships with people, this week Jesus talks about a relationship with possessions. But what makes these neutral words on a page so challenging? Nothing...they are just words.  Our question should be, why do these readings hit us so hard? Why do we find them difficult to hear? Maybe we'll discover that they don't align with what we think is true about Jesus and his love. Maybe we are bringing the baggage of past preaching or teaching on these scriptures that made us feel guilt, shame and exclusion. Maybe we are hearing a burden and command where Jesus offers us a key and freedom!

Holy and Mighty God, You invite us into a life with You. There are so many things that are only possible for us to release our hold on these things! In Jesus' name, Amen.
GLC Kids!
Sunday School @ 10:15
As members of the ELCA, we believe that God is calling us into the world—together. And with generous, loving hands, we can make a difference. Each week during Glory Gathering of Sunday School, we do an offering for ELCA Good Gifts. Each student chooses which cause they would like to contribute to and we watch our totals grow!
Our current offerings —received in the first 3 weeks of Sunday School:

  • Blanket ($10 ea.) -- for people recovering from a disaster or emergency: $35.54
  • Backpack ($10 ea.) -- filled with healthy food for a weekend while a child is not at school: $34.51
  • Soap & Sanitation supplies ($25 ea.) -- for schools, households, & clinics: $29.25
  • Mystery Bucket -- What will our gift be? Give your offering and you will see! Clues are given to the kids each week to see if they can guess what it is!: $16.90
Each week, the collection totals are updated and posted on the Sunday School bulletin board at the top of the 2nd floor staircase.

Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
Why are there so many people doing things in worship? While at GLC we have staff people; pastor, music director, children and family coordinator, and organist guiding in front of the congregation and an audio visual coordinator, congregational ministries coordinator, communications coordinator, and office coordinator behind the scenes; it is all to create space for YOU to live fully into your faith. For many people, serving communion, greeting, or reading is a meaningful way to do this. Every voice matters and different voices help us to hear things differently. Maybe you'd like to serve this way, too. Let Julie know if you'd like to be scheduled or arrive a few minutes early to receive instructions.

We lift up in prayer
  • John Svach, Father of Faith Sax
  • For the people who continue to share the message of Jesus' love with us
  • For hospitality in welcoming the stirring of God's work in us
  • For each of us as we try to understand what God is calling us to do
  • For GLC staff and volunteers as programs and activities start again
  • For teachers, administrators, students, and parents as they navigate through increasingly difficult schedules
