Founded in 2015, The Kaiser IT Group is an Information Technology (IT) and Business Technology Consultancy that provides comprehensive business support for IT and more. Andy Kaiser, the founder of Kaiser IT Group (KIG), was working in the information technology industry when he decided he would be much happier if he ran his own business with his own way of doing things. This proved to be extremely successful, as KIG grew consistently over the years while working out of his home office. Although the term did not exist when he was a kid, Andy says he has always been an IT guy. He describes himself as the “nerdy kid” in computer class that all the other students would come to for help. He found himself carrying that interest with him as he headed to college at Michigan Tech, where he studied Computer Science. When asked about Kaiser IT Group and the services they provide, Andy explained:
“KIG does technology consulting for business clients in Grand Rapids and West Michigan. I’m only half-joking when I say I named the business wrong because what we do is way beyond IT. We’ve got the usual IT stuff—networking and computers, security and stability, phones and faxes—and we have other technology services, from custom enterprise audio systems to drone aerial videography. If a business needs technology, Kaiser IT Group will get it done.”
Until recently, most of the company’s physical presence was spent leasing from one of its business partners. While it was a good situation then, both companies grew, and they all felt the strain. They did the research, talked about budgets, and decided to buy a building. Andy’s business partner, Roy Smith, agreed that they wanted to own their own place and commit formally to the West Michigan business community. Now with ten employees, The Kaiser IT Group has happily purchased its first building with the help of Great Lakes Commercial Finance. Located near the Gerald R. Ford International Airport, the building has 1.7 acres and about 6,500 square feet. The space is intentionally more than needed, as they wanted inventory storage, the ability to handle current growth, and room for later expansion. This was all possible due to the SBA 504 loan program—a fixed-rate financing program with a low down payment and longer terms. When asked about his experience using the loan program through Great Lakes Commercial Finance, Andy shared:
“GLCF made the process easy. I mean that both in terms of understanding the situation and
also having the expertise to get done what’s needed for making our loan happen. Getting a
building for Kaiser IT Group with GLCF’s help has truly brought us to another tier of performance and ability,” Andy explained. “We have more of what we need to do a good job for ourselves and our clients, and what we have will last a long time. I really appreciate the team of people who made this happen, and GLCF was a huge part of that effort.”
Everyone at Kaiser IT Group is thrilled about their new space and looks forward to seeing the
continued growth of the company. For more information about KIG, visit https://www.kaiseritgroup.com.
