GLOBE's 2023 Earth Day Banner

Happy Anniversary to GLOBE! Join in Special Earth Day Activity!

 

Help celebrate GLOBE's 28th Anniversary by participating in the 2023 Earth Day Activity. The GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) invites students to COLLECT, VISUALIZE, and CONNECT using GLOBE protocols. Submissions open until 31 March.

Fees for the in-person meeting will be $620 USD ("Early-Bird") or $660 USD (regular). GIO acknowledges that this is a significant investment for community members, and is working diligently to plan an inspiring and informative event. Stay tuned!

Interested in Judging? Attend Webinar!

 

An informational webinar on judging for the 2023 IVSS will take place on 29 March, 12:00 p.m. EDT (10:00 a.m. MDT). Judges can be STEM professionals, alumni, teachers, grad students or other interested community members. Typically, judging takes around 20-30 minutes per project; and GIO asks that you commit to at least three projects.

The March UHIE-Surface Temperature Intensive Observation Period (IOP) has begun. IOPs involve students, educators, and researchers collecting and entering targeted data into the GLOBE database during specific periods of time.

Join 09 March Webinar  

 

The GLOBE Mission Mosquito (GMM) webinar, “Mosquito Larvae Bootcamp” will be held on Thursday, 09 March, at 02:00 p.m. ET (05:00 p.m. UTC). Participants in this webinar, led by Dr. Rusty Low, will learn how to identify mosquito larvae and receive professional tips to help spot and photograph larvae.

The GSVs met virtually to receive their assignment: Reflections Vlogs. They also had the chance to hear from GSV Alumni Mentor Christine (United States) about what it meant for her to help the current cohort (whose term ends this Earth Day) start to think about how they will reflect on their own experiences as GSVs.

Opportunities for Students

Students participating in a SRS

Registration for 2023 U.S. Student Research Symposia (SRS) Open

 

Students can share the results of their hard work in GLOBE research investigations at the 2023 U.S. SRS. For students in the 5th to 12th grades, the symposia offer the chance to discuss research projects with STEM professionals, share ideas and learn from peers and explore STEM careers. Symposia are held every spring in each of GLOBE's six U.S. regions.

U.S. GLOBE Sophomores/Juniors: 2023 Summer Internship Opportunity – Deadline 15 March

 

The U.S. GLOBE Coordination Office is accepting applications for a GLOBE intern at the STEM Enhancement in Earth Science (SEES) 2023 Summer High School Intern Program. Selected interns will learn how to interpret NASA satellite data and work with scientists and engineers at the University of Texas at Austin Center for Space Research.
