2023 Annual Meeting Updates


Call for Presentations


  • Sunday 7 May is the deadline to submit your presentation for the GLOBE Annual Meeting.. We hope to receive a wide range of proposals from across the GLOBE community. If you are planning to attend the Annual Meeting, why not share a presentation!

  • The early-bird registration rate continues until the end of May. Now is a good time to register!
  • More information about the meeting can be found on the GLOBE website. You will find details of accommodation options in Denver; what to do if you need a letter of support for your US visa application; and how to contact the GIO for any other annual meeting-related inquiries.

2023 International Virtual Science Symposium Wrap Up


The 2023 International Virtual Science Symposium (IVSS) was a huge success! The GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) received 253 project submissions from 1453 students in 27 countries in all six GLOBE regions.

Projects were submitted in seven languages: Arabic, Croatian, English, French, Spanish, Thai and Portuguese. This year, 112 projects from all six GLOBE regions qualified for the stipend drawing which was held on 21 April in conjunction with Earth Day. A huge thanks to the 170 judges from all six GLOBE regions who helped score the projects and provide feedback to students.

Our latest cohort of GLOBE Student Vloggers is bigger than ever. This year we have accepted twenty one students ranging in age from 10 to 17 years old. We are excited to work with them this year and for you to learn from them! See who they are and where they come from here.

Keeping Up with GLOBE Star Stories?

 

Send us your stories! Currently under production tis the story of a group of GLOBE students in rural Alaska who, in 2012, embarked on a 10-year study of the effect of a massive bridge and levee project on the local fish, habitat, water quality, beaver activity and invasive plant growth in their community. It's a great story!

U.S. In-Service and Pre-Service Teachers: Stipends Available for Blog and Social Media Posts Highlighting GLOBE and Natural Inquirer Connections 

 

Earn $100 while learning about two exemplary science education resources. The GLOBE U.S. Office is looking for educators to highlight connections (via blog post or social media) between the USDA Forest Service’s Natural Inquirer readers for students and GLOBE protocols, learning activities, and storybooks.

Opportunities for Students

The 2023 U.S. Student Research Symposia (SRS)

 

The final three regional U.S. Student Research Symposia will take place in May. Students will sharz the results of their hard work in GLOBE research investigations. For students in the 5th to 12th grades, the symposia offer the chance to discuss research projects with STEM professionals, share ideas and learn from peers and explore STEM careers. Symposia are held every spring in each of GLOBE's six U.S. regions.
