GLOBE Welcomes New Partnering Country: Belize

 

 “We are extremely excited to welcome Belize as our 127th GLOBE country,” GLOBE Implementation Office (GIO) Director Dr. Tony Murphy said. Dr. Allison Leidner, GLOBE Program Manager at NASA, agreed. “We look forward to working with Belizean students as they learn about their environment and contribute that knowledge to the worldwide GLOBE community.”

Check out GLOBE’s social media posts highlighting Earth Observation Day (11 October), which is part of Earth Science Week (09-15 October). These efforts will be highlighting the Trees Around the GLOBE Campaign. (Year 05 of the campaign kicks off on 11 October, in conjunction with Earth Observation Day.)

GLOBE Thanks Land Cover Challenge 2022 Participants

 

Participants sent in over 1,600 observations during the challenge period; observations came from 180+ individual observers at over 1,100 different data collection sites in 28 countries from all six GLOBE regions.

2022 North American Regional Meeting (NARM) Will Take Place in November

 

This year, the NARM will be divided into two sections, one virtual and one in‑person (which will take place in four locations around the United States). A culminating virtual event will be held to bring everyone together to share reflections.

2023 International Virtual Science Symposium Updates

Join 12 October IVSS Informational Webinar

 

On Wednesday, 12 October, at 10:00 a.m. MDT (12:00 p.m. EDT/04:00 p.m. UTC) come and learn “what” an IVSS report involves and “how” to submit a report, and about this year’s theme. There will also be a “chat” available, through which participants can ask questions. (To submit questions prior to the webinar, please send an email to mlane@ucar.edu.)

New Interview Assignment!

 

The new cohort of vloggers recently met to receive their next assignment: Trees in a Changing Climate Interview Videos! The GSVs are being tasked to interview friends, parents, elders, and community members about trees and climate. They will be asked to consider change over time for trees in their local environment.
