This is the best resource for staying in the know.
Dear GLOBE Community,

While we are closely following DeKalb County School District’s planning, GLOBE’s plans for a return-to-campus will be based on the recommendations of our independently run reopening committee to meet the needs of our community and academic dual-language immersion model. Please watch your email tomorrow for a communication directly from GLOBE about reopening and continued instructional plans.

No Winter Map Tests

During these unprecedented times, we find ourselves constantly trying to adjust and make decisions that are in the best interest of student learning. We analyzed the Fall administration of MAP and identified two main challenges due to our virtual setting:

*Fidelity of scoring
*The amount of lost instructional time

For these reasons, we have decided not to administer the Winter MAPs. Teachers will use this time to continue to instruct students.

Science LC

We are starting off many new units of science and to keep you connected to what is happening in class, here are the current units for each grade:
3rd - We are studying soils and will learn about fossils next.
2nd - Ask your 2nd grader what they know about the life cycles of a frog, chicken and butterfly (or insect). We will learn about plant life cycles and pollination next.
1st - Ask your 1st grader to draw you a model of the earth that includes the north pole and south pole. Our next unit will cover magnets.
K - Ask your Kindergartner to show you the results of our sink and float experiment. Then if you need a fun activity, do your own sinking and floating experiment at home.
