Check here each week for updates from GLOBE's Reopening Committee on guidance to inform a safe return, and for responses to your questions and concerns about The GLOBE Academy's COVID-19 response. GLOBE's COVID-19 tracker is updated each Wednesday at www.theglobeacademy.org. If you have questions about GLOBE's Return-to-Campus Plan, please submit them here. We will do our best to answer as many questions as possible.

Question: Will parents have the option to change their decision from virtual to 2-day Hybrid or Virtual to 4 day a week? Are the decision periods every 4.5 weeks or 9 weeks?

Answer: It is possible, though not guaranteed that families who have selected virtual instruction will have an opportunity to transition to the 2-day hybrid model later in the academic year. If GLOBE increases the number of in-person days of instruction, families who are currently attending virtually will have an opportunity to update their preferences at that time.

Question: Can you also share the GLOBE COVID cases in addition to the DeKalb County case numbers?

Answer: GLOBE's Data Dashboard will be updated to include a tab that tracks any cases that might occur, separately for Lower and Upper Campuses.

Question: What (if anything) would or could lead to going back to an all-virtual model? I’m thinking about the potential for things to become worse again in March and beyond, due to the potential influence of new variants.

Answer: Once GLOBE initiates a hybrid instructional model, our ability to continue with in-person instruction will be driven by two factors. First and foremost, we cannot operate in any in-person capacity if DeKalb County Schools are closed. Thus, if DeKalb transitions to hybrid instruction and then returns to a fully virtual model, we will need to do the same.
Assuming that DeKalb is allowing any in-person instruction, GLOBE will continue hybrid instruction so long as there remains good COVID-19 control at both campuses. This is why it is critically important for all of us – families, students, and staff – to be mindful about our exposures and behavior both on and off campus. A temporary or extended transition back to all virtual instruction will be made in consultation with local health officials and will consider a range of factors including the number of COVID-19 cases, the number of affected classrooms, and whether there is evidence of transmission occurring in school. Once hybrid instruction begins, GLOBE’s COVID-19 data dashboard will be updated to include de-identified information about any cases of COVID-19 that might occur.

Question: What will happen to the ECP virtual support program when the school opens for hybrid learning? Will there be any school based virtual support options for the 3 days/week of virtual learning?

Answer: We are not sure at the current moment. We are hopeful that we can secure spots for these students. Stay tuned; information will go directly to families who are already participating in the program.
