In June, Governor Brian P. Kemp and State School Superintendent Richard Woods of the Georgia Department of Education issued a
joint statement
that Georgia will submit a waiver request to the U.S. Department of Education for the suspension of high-stakes testing and accountability for the 2020-2021 school year - specifically the 2020-2021 Georgia Milestones assessments and the College and Career Readiness Index (
CCRPI
) and the report card (school and district rating systems), in order to allow schools to focus on the remediation, growth and safety of students as they return to full instruction this fall.
Public comment and feedback is a requirement of the process to request a federal waiver. Please take a few moments to provide your input regarding Georgia seeking a waiver from mandatory assessment and accountability requirements for the 2020-2021 school year.
